Mrs. Della Ray Young Brown, a resident of Semmes, Al, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at a local hospital. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband, Albert S. Young and three siblings.
She was a former longtime member of Myers Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a current member of Crawford Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Rev. J. Lloyd Brown, sons, Robert S. Young (Lynda) and Gary W. Young (Donna). Mrs. Brown also is survived by granddaughters, Amanda Young Middleton (Chris), Jana Marie Young, Kara Danielle Young and Laura Marie Young and great-grandchildren; Reese Violet Middleton, Mason Middleton, Jackson Middleton and Savannah Young. She is also survived by her sisters, Willa Dean Meaux and Reva Ladner. Mrs. Brown loved cooking and sewing.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the building fund at Crawford Baptist Church, 3000 Sun Valley Drive, Semmes, AL 36575.

Catherine Lois Garner – a native of Atlanta, GA and resident of Mobile, AL died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Travis Garner; and brother, Bobby Futral. She is survived by three children, Tannis (Euby) Sikes, Edmund (Sherry) Garner and Tammy (Danny) Flack; one brother, Deldon (Cathy) Futral; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

James Kemp

Mr. James J. Kemp died on Friday, September 27, 2013. He was born in Clarke County, Mississippi on October 1, 1919, and had been a resident of Mobile, Al since January, 1942.
Mr. Kemp was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a professional construction engineer and land surveyor for more than 40 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca F. Kemp and son, James J. Kemp, Jr.. He is survived by several nephews, nieces and a few old good friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Kay McBride

Kay W. McBride, a longtime resident of Mobile, passed away at a local nursing facility on Tuesday, September 27, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. McBride, parents, Doc and Mary Alice Whittle and sister, Ruby Lee Woodland.
She was a member of Life Church and formerly of Wilmer Baptist Church. She carried a special place in her heart for widows and often held Widow Bible Study in her home. She will be remembered as a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her children; L. Wayne McBride (Kathy), Terry D. McBride (Rebecca) and Cheryl McBride Sims (Gary); grandchildren; Jennifer, Lauren, Joshua, Zachary, Katie and Kelsey. She is also survived by three great grandchildren; Eli, Ava Lee and Kennedy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Dignity Three Notch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Eugene "Gene" William Noce a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Mr. Noce was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Louise Noce, parents, George Ernest Noce and Nan Margaret Boylan Noce and brother, George K. Noce. He served his country in the U.S. Army, having served in WWII, European Theatre. He retired as a Plant Manager with Diamond Shamrock. He was a longtime member of Providence Presbyterian Church, serving as church treasurer. He was an avid golfer and woodworker. He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father. Mr. Noce is survived by his children; Linda C. McCarley, Richard K. Noce (Mary Ann), Jeffrey W. Noce (Hollye) and John D. Noce, grandchildren; Andrew Mendenhall, Jill Petron, Paul Noce, Laura Bongard, Keo Noce and Grant Noce. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; David, Danielle and John. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 at the Dignity Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. A.L. Hinton, "Jr." – age 83, a native of Wilmer, AL and longtime resident of Tanner Williams died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at an assisted living facility in Lawrenceville, GA. He was a member of Robert's Chapel United Methodist Church, Boilermaker's Local #112, and Springhill Masonic Lodge #896. Mr. Hinton was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Gene Hinton. Survivors include his son, Gary (Jill) Hinton, Reno, NV; daughter, Bertha (Sonny) Scanlon, Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Brandy (Russell) Persons, Lucedale, MS, Nicole (Ben) Comerford, LaGrange, GA, Greg Hinton, Castro Valley, CA, Julie (Ben) Confer, Reno, NV; great-grandchildren, Claire and Anna Persons, Amelia and Annie Comerford, Addie and Landon Confer; sisters, Beatrice (JB) White, Mabel (Buddy) Johns, Natalie Grissett, and Ashie (Arnold) Pierce; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Virginia Dare Sellers Selwyn – loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a 69 year-old native of McKenzie, AL, and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. She was the longtime owner/operator of Lawnmower and Small Engine Parts at the Mobile Flea Market. At various times in her life she worked at Vanity Fair/Lee Co. in Bayou La Batre, the cafeteria at Fonde Elementary School, and Morrison's Cafeteria. Mrs. Selwyn will always be remembered as a selfless and fearless woman with a strong work ethic. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word for everyone. Mrs. Selwyn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ola Travis Sellers; husband of 42 years, Robert Gurison Selwyn; daughter, Rene Bozeman; granddaughter, Tuesdy Rae Gaines; son-in-law, Chris Vick; brothers, Ray Sellers, Bill Sellers, and Jim Sellers; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Sellers and Treva Sellers. She is survived by five children: William Randall Selwyn (Debbie), Vicki Selwyn McCay (Teddy), Brenda Selwyn Vick, Tina Marie Selwyn, and Robert Daniel Selwyn (Melissa); brothers, Doll Sellers (Gloria) and Frank Sellers (Peggy); sister-in-law, Betty Lott; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends including the staff and residents of Crowne Health Care. Paul Douglas "Doug" Lomax - a 70 year-old resident of Satsuma, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Mr. Lomax retired from Mobile Pulley Works after many years of service as a machinist. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army and a member of the First Baptist Church of Satsuma.
Mr. Lomax was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton L. and Barbara Anna W. Lomax, and sister, Julie Jemison. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Lomax; brother, Jerry Lomax (Barbara); sister, Janice Whatley (Frank); grandson, Lance; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 12 noon.
