Martin Franklin Byars, age 93, and a resident of Mobile, Passed peacefully at his home on Thursday. Predeceased by his parents, Seth and Mattie V. Byars, and a grandson, Adrian L. Ashburn. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Louise Puckett Byars; five children, Joseph Martin Byars (Sheila), Marsha Lynn Morris (William), Sarah Robbin Rhodes, Margaret Ann Elmore (Tony), Martha Jean Harrell (Lawrence "Buddy"); twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Josh Byars, Mike Finch, Jr., Chuck Finch, Chris Finch, Geremy Finch and Ben Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers will be his fourteen great grandsons. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 12 noon. The visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Devon Dowell, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile County, AL died on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his friend Rocky Adams. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kim Monceaux Dowell; children, Nicole Catterson, Daniel E. Dowell (Jamie Dowell); parents, Curmey and Dorothy Dowell; sisters and brothers, Lola McGallagher (Earl), Devoy Dowell (Amy) and Delane Dowell; 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of life time friends. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2 PM. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM. Willie R. "Mr. Peck" Hudson, a native of Bourbon, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile, died on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Hudson. He is survived by his wife, Helen Hudson; seven children, Gregory Hudson, James (Traci) Hudson, Adam (Donna) Hudson, Teresa H. (Randal) Hunt, Kenneth (Angela) Hudson, Jason Hudson and Dale Payne; two sisters, Louise Etheridge and Laura Zay; thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2 PM. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday. Thomas Monroe Jordan, a native of Battles Warf, AL, longtime resident of Mobile, AL and current resident of Fairhope, AL, went to be with the Lord on Monday. He retired as Vice-President of Operations of McDonald's Corporation after 49 years of service. He was a mentor to many generations, all of whom he loved dearly. He was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and assistant teacher of Dale Carnegie courses. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father, Monroe Jordan, mother, Lois Mabel Freeman Kramer and step-father, Ralph Kramer. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judi Anne Mitchell Jordan, of Fairhope, AL; two sons, Tim (Kelly) Jordan, of Mobile, AL and Todd (Marsha) Jordan, of Daphne, AL; one sister, Julie (Joe) Torora, of Hommassa, FL; three grandchildren, Cassidy Jordan, Tye Jordan and Tucker Jordan; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be John Maske, David Wallace, Bobby Wallace, Herb Fisher, William Barnes, Brian Brooks, Victor Guy and Jeremy Obert. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014 with Dr. Fred H. Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Duward Lamar Hutcheson, a native of Covington County, AL, former resident of Mobile, AL currently residing in Summerdale, AL died Sunday. He was the owner and operator of All Tech, Inc., was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Fish River Baptist Church. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife, Mary R. Hutcheson; two daughters, Teresa (Michael) Hogan, of Geneva, Al and Melissa (Joseph) Gentry, of Mobile, AL; two sons, Jeffery Hutcheson and Mark Hutcheson, both of Mobile, AL; one brother, Jerry (Linda) Hutcheson, of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Ann (Ken) Capps, of Westminster, CO and Sue Williamson of Red Level, AL; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Arnold Alfred Hunt, 76, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Pisgah, Alabama, to Rev. Winfred Alfred and Wilhelmina (Mina) Vande Zande Hunt, he lived most of his life in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Sylvania High School, Sylvania, Alabama, and attended Howard College, (now Samford University), in Birmingham, Alabama, before he was drafted into the Army. He was an avid fan of University of Alabama football. Arnold worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over 30 years. In 1963 he joined the Bureau in Birmingham, Alabama, and retired from the Bureau in Mobile, Alabama, in 1996. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dawes where he sang in the choir and served on the Building and Grounds Committee. Through the years he served as Chairman of the Deacons and on several staff search committees. He was a craftsman who enjoyed carpentry and yard work. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Freeman Hunt; sons, James A., and Robert Brandon (Annie); sisters, Betty Hunt Freeman, Dr. Lillian Hunt Chaney, Donna Hunt Manship (Ray), Carol Hunt Sorrells (Reggie), and Marcia Hunt Skillern; grandchildren, Chloe and Wesley; as well as his many loving nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Hunt. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at noon in the Chapel. Julia Marietta Bolton-a lifelong resident of Mobile, Al. passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. Julia was born on May 8, 1991 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. She attended Baker High School and played on the Varsity Volleyball team as well as Club Volleyball. She graduated from Baker in 2009 and continued her Volleyball career at Faulkner State Community College then went on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of South Alabama. Over the years of her life, Julia touched many lives with her outgoing personality and caring soul. She always kept a smile on her face that would light up a room and taught everyone she came in contact with that life is truly beautiful! Julia was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Louie Bolton, maternal grandfather, Talmadge Wesley Thrash and her twin brother Julian D. Bolton. She is survived by her parents, Doug Bolton and Tammy (Jerry) Simmons, siblings, Jade Bolton, Tiffany Bolton and Matthew Twiggs, grandparents ;Mary Sue Thrash, Winnette Bolton, Katherine G. Simmons, aunts and uncles; Jim Thrash, Mary Katherine Thrash and Cathy Thrash. Rosie Young

Mrs. Rosie L. Young, age 93, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014. She was born on July 5, 1920 in Frisco City, AL. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Levi C. Young. Mrs. Young retired as director of The Mobile County Emergency Management Agency after many years of service. She received numerous award and commendations from the State of Alabama as well as from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for her role in managing emergency efforts during numerous hurricanes and other disasters. She was the oldest surviving charter member of The La Luna Mardi Gras organization and was a member of several other mystic societies. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Meier (Don); two grandchildren, Cynthia Oubre (Ray) of Patterson, LA and Steve Meier of Dallas, TX. She also leaves to cherish her memory, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Grelot Road, Mobile, AL. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
