Janice Sue Wright, a native of Joplin, MO and a resident of Mobile, AL, died on Tuesday. She was an employee of BBVA Compass Bank, Overlook Branch, and a member of Woodridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her father, Jack Amos. She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Wright (Michael) Grabber, Fredericksburg, VA; two sons, D. Brian Wright, Springfield, MO and Jonathan Wright, Ocean Springs, MS; her mother, Dolores Maxine Moser Amos, Joplin, MO; sisters, Jackie Bittick (Kermit) McCaleb, Mobile, AL, Pamela Bittick Speer, Joplin, MO; her brother, Alton Jann (Resa) Amos, Webb City, MO; and sister, Ramona Amos Caldwell, Whitesboro, TX; three grandchildren, Benjamin Michael, David Joseph and William James Grabber; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services, officiated by Dr. Mack Morris, will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10 AM from Woodridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday evening, May 4, 2014, from 4 to 7 PM at Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AREA 11 Special Olympics Virginia, P.O.Box 218, Fredericksburg, VA 22404. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Sanders Jackson "Jack" Moran, 88, of Wilmer, AL died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his residence. Jack was a retired truck driver for Union Carbide. Jack was a member of Camellia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Rex Moran and Erma Lee Morgan Moran; his wife, Corine H. Moran; and his brothers, Robert and T.P. Moran. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Moran, of Wilmer, AL; two sons, Bruce and Wayne Moran; one step-son and one step-daughter; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Howell, will be held from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home at 10 A.M. Friday, May 2, 2014. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Theresa W. Colson, age 94, a native of Mississippi and a resident of Houma, LA, passed away April 27, 2014. Mrs. Colson was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Colson, Sr.; and her parents, Robert and Celia Harris. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Linda) Colson, Michael (Barbara) Colson, Carol (Larry) Davidson, Albert Colson and Rita (Louis) Harms; fifteen grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Howard Pettis, a 93 year-old native of Brewton, AL and a resident of Mobile for 53 years passed away on April 28, 2014. Mr. Pettis was a WWII Air Force Veteran and retired from Delchamps, Inc. after 26 years of service. He was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ella Max Pettis; two sons, Cecil Pettis (Diane) of Hernando, MS and Mike Pettis of Summerdale; one grandson, Zack Pettis of Hernando, MS and a brother, Doug (Betty) Pettis of Brewton. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Bill Whitfield officiating. Myra Josephine Amacker, 84, of Mobile, AL died on Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was born in Mobile, AL on March 20, 1930. Josephine was a graduate of Murphy High School and was married to the late Effort Amacker, Sr. Josephine, with her husband, Efford "Mack" Amacker, served in the ministry as evangelists in many states across the United States and pastors of churches in Alabama and Mississippi. Josephine is survived by five children: Efford Amacker, Jr. (Gloria), Brandon, MS; Dr. Barry Amacker (Kathy), Ocean Springs, MS; Rhonda Bradley, Humble, TX; Daniel Amacker (Colleen), Mobile, AL; and Pamela Ebeling (Will), Humble, TX; siblings, J. W. Britt, Diane Ward Halstead, Betty Bronold and Gerry Hofheins; 10 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Amacker was preceded in death by her husband, Efford Amacker, Sr.; her parents, James Wilson and Lotus Mae Britt; and her sister, Nora Helveston. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. The service will be officiated by Pastor Clinton Hobbs and assisted by Pastor Bob Ledger. Pallbearers will be Richard Halston, Richard Sharpe, Donnie Ward, Bradley Amacker, Jerry Goff, Hayse Brock, Keith Burns and Brandon Siegman. Special music will be provided by Linda Hedrick, Wanda Hobbs and Alica Amacker Seigman. A special thanks to caregivers Rhonda Burroughts, Vickie Cocker and Kim Auito for their loving care given to Josephine in her last days.

She is survived by her son, Bryan (Beth) Lins; three grandchildren, Justin Lins, Brooke Lins and Ben Lins; a sister, Shirley Smith and brother, Edward Young; three great grandchildren and other relatives. Odessa Marie Hansen Orso, born in Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 25, 2014. Friends and family called Odessa "Dessa" or "Dessi". Odessa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Malvin Eugene Orso, to whom she was married for 58 years. A lifelong resident of Mobile, and graduate of Murphy High School, Odessa worked as a teller at Merchants Bank during her early years, until she was married in 1949. Odessa loved her country. She was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and would always watch the games on TV with family and learned the names of the players. Odessa loved nature, the birds, trees, flowers, the blue sky, and the clouds. She loved being near the water, and swimming. She loved to restore old furniture. She loved to travel, and cherished the travels she shared with her husband in retirement. Odessa and Malvin were active with the Baldwin Senior Travelers travel club. Odessa was a member of the Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church, and was an active member for as long as her health allowed. Most of all, Odessa loved her family. She always wanted to keep track of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and know if they are doing OK. Odessa was known for her love and kindness, but would stand up for herself and her family when she needed to. Odessa is survived by her children: Stephen Keith Orso, Susan Orso Stephens, and Tod Kevin Orso; seven grandchildren: Cyndy Orso Baggett, Braxton Eugene Orso, Bria Danielle May, Jordan Alexander Orso, Jeremy Eugene Stephens, Kelly Stephens Baggett, Phillip Scott Stephens; and ten great grandchildren: Emma Marie Baggett, Avery Elaine Baggett, Ella Claire Stephens, Gracie Joy Stephens, Austin Taylor Stephens, Cameron Scott Stephens, Gavin Parker May, Zachary Jordan Harris, Mallory Noelle Harris, and Cassidy Faith Harris.Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 3 PM on Wed., April 30, 2014.
