A chapel service for Vivian Cunill will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, 07/30/2014 from a local church followed by a committal service at the grave site.
May 7, 1921 - July 26, 2014 Miss Vivian May Cunill, a native and life-long resident of Mobile died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Allen Memorial Nursing Home. Miss Cunill was a devout Catholic and a former member of St. Joseph Jesuit Catholic Church and a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she was active in the Reise Club. She was a graduate of the Convent of Mercy in 1938 and she retired from the United States Postal Service after 45 years of public service. She enjoyed travel, having traveled to Europe five times, including visits to family in Spain, and extensively throughout the US, oil painting, pen and ink sketching, photography, writing poetry, playing Bunco, studying astrology, visiting with friends and family, and feeding "God's Creatures". Miss Cunill was devoted to her extended family and served as a model of faith to each forthcoming generation. She was preceded in death by her parents Benito and Alberta F. Cunill, her two sisters Albernita Cunill Straub and Esther Margarita Cunill, and her brother, Benito Cunill Jr. Miss Cunill is survived by nieces and nephews, Punnie Straub (Lee) Bosarge, Cynthia Cunill (Tim) Hogan, Rudolph (Rose) Straub, Jr., Linwood (Karen) Cunill, all of Mobile, Benito "Buddy" (Lynn) Cunill, III of Tallahassee, Florida, Phillip (Sherry) Straub of Lafitte, Louisana, and Gerald (Donna) Straub of Lucedale, Mississippi; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, former classmates, co-workers, and others friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Sage Avenue on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends in the Sarto Center beginning at 9 a.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 217 S. Sage Ave., Mobile, AL 36606.
