Robert "Bob" Foster Frye, age 88, of Eight Mile, AL passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Mr. Frye was a member of Myers Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Martha Turner Frye. Mr. and Mrs. Frye participated in several church/mission-building projects all over the United States. Mr. Frye was a US Navy Veteran. The family will receive friends at Dignity's Three Notch  Funeral Home on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, followed by graveside services in Mobile Memorial Gardens at 12:00 Noon.

Sept. 5, 1924-July 30, 2014 Annie Mary "Mother" Smith Nordan, a native of Wayne County, MS and resident of Eight Mile, AL since 1947, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the age of 89. She was a conservative and God-fearing woman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gleason Washington Nordan, and is survived by her daughter, Janet Nordan Scott; her granddaughter, Jo Ann Scott (John) LeCoq; two great-grandsons, Alex and Joshua, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday beginning at 9:00 A.M. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Garden.

Oct. 10, 1954-July 27, 2014 Randolph Raymond "Randy Ray" Grider, a native of Mobile, AL went home to join his father on July 27, 2014. He enjoyed playing softball for many teams and parks and loved to fish and hunt. ROLL TIDE. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Edward Grider. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Grider; his mother, Teeny Grider; three sisters, Teresa (Steven) Stafford, Connie (John) Corrales and Maureen Downey; five children, Danielle (Kevin) Bushnell, Amy Tyke, Randi Michelle (Farhan) Hussain; Terry (Fahad) Subzwari and Raymond (Bridget) Grider; two step-children, Mellissa (Daniel) Lack and Kat Belle (Matt Odom); seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mike Hardee, John Corrales, Steve Smith, Steve Lumpkin, Greg James, and Jim Stukenburg will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Randy Ray Memorial, 2000 Grider Road, Mobile, AL 36618. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home. Hollie Louise O'Brien, born in Sebring, FL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday. She is preceded in death by her father, James O'Brien; Mother, Eula Holley O'Brien; Brother-in-law, Bo Cartledge; and nephew, Liston Cartledge, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Alice O'Brien Cartledge; nieces Kimberly Cartledge Munoz, Mary Cartledge Caddell (Ben), Hollie Cartledge, Julie Cartledge; great nieces and nephews, Michael Munoz, Noah Munoz, Virginia Holley Caddell, Jessica Munoz, Nick Caddell, Trey Cartledge (Caroline), and Jamie Cartledge; and many treasured friends including Harry Hanson, Rev. Terry and Mary Johns, Hazel and Bryce Taylor, Bette Winner, and Deb Burns. She began her career in retail sales at Kahn's department store in Sebring, FL. Her career continued with ladies apparel stores in Fort Worth, TX and ultimately in Cocoa Beach, FL where she opened "the Wardrobe". She was a resident of Cocoa Beach, FL for over 50 years and a member of Living Word Christian Fellowship Church. She was also an active supporter of WEGO ministries. As a born again Christian, she was a faithful prayer warrior and follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. "The Joy of the Lord is my strength."

Vivian Cunill

May 7, 1921 - July 26, 2014 Miss Vivian May Cunill, a native and life-long resident of Mobile died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Allen Memorial Nursing Home. Miss Cunill was a devout Catholic and a former member of St. Joseph Jesuit Catholic Church and a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she was active in the Reise Club. She was a graduate of the Convent of Mercy in 1938 and she retired from the United States Postal Service after 45 years of public service. She enjoyed travel, having traveled to Europe five times, including visits to family in Spain, and extensively throughout the US, oil painting, pen and ink sketching, photography, writing poetry, playing Bunco, studying astrology, visiting with friends and family, and feeding "God's Creatures". Miss Cunill was devoted to her extended family and served as a model of faith to each forthcoming generation. She was preceded in death by her parents Benito and Alberta F. Cunill, her two sisters Albernita Cunill Straub and Esther Margarita Cunill, and her brother, Benito Cunill Jr. Miss Cunill is survived by nieces and nephews, Punnie Straub (Lee) Bosarge, Cynthia Cunill (Tim) Hogan, Rudolph (Rose) Straub, Jr., Linwood (Karen) Cunill, all of Mobile, Benito "Buddy" (Lynn) Cunill, III of Tallahassee, Florida, Phillip (Sherry) Straub of Lafitte, Louisana, and Gerald (Donna) Straub of Lucedale, Mississippi; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, former classmates, co-workers, and others friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Sage Avenue on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends in the Sarto Center beginning at 9 a.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 217 S. Sage Ave., Mobile, AL 36606.

Nov. 11, 1949-July 25, 2014 Edward Arthur McLaney, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Friday. He retired from AKZO after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Barney Raybern McLaney. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Carol Stepps McLaney; his mother, JoAnn McLaney; daughter, Leslie McLaney Warmack; grandchildren, Gabby, Kailey and Bailey; his brothers, Butch (Angie) McLaney and Ray McLaney; his sister, Cynthia McLaney Collins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Dale Hodges and Cynthia McLaney Collins, will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Dignity's Three Notch Funeral Home.
