Feb. 19, 1924-Nov. 26, 2014 Hans Schneider - Age 90, of Mobile, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014. He was born on February 19, 1924 in Ehingen am Donau, Germany. He is survived by his wife, Mary " Johnnie"; sons, George Gray, and John, and his wife, Amy, of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter, Ann Cox, and her husband, Greg, of Falls Church, Virginia. He was proud of his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. Born in Germany, his family immigrated to the United States when he was five years old. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he settled in Mobile, AL in 1946 where he raised his family. He was married to the love of his life for 68 years. He was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church since 1954 and worked for Barnett Millworks until he retired in 1985. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Oct. 26, 1925 - Nov. 24, 2014 Ruby Juanita Burford – a native of Opp, AL and resident of Saraland, AL passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest P. Burford, Sr. She is survived by seven children, Earnest P. Burford, Jr., Ruby Kate Snyder, Norman K. (Rita) Burford, Patricia Dell (Gary) Arnold, Judson Hayward (Cely) Burford, Sr., Robert Belton (Sherry) Burford and Clyde Elvis (Debbie) Burford; four siblings, Margie Lynd, Joyce (Gene) Holland, Bobby (Judy) Watson and Pamela (Jerry) Waller; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dignity's Funeral Home in Saraland. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Stevens was a secretary at Theodore High School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Stevens; her daughter, Margaret Stevens Naylor; her grandson, Russell Bryant; her parents and her brother. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Stevens Hoppe and Elizabeth Stevens Bryant and her husband, Anthony "Tony; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. May 12, 1936 - November 21, 2014 Mrs. Jimmye Ruth Hill, 78, is completely healed. She passed away very peacefully November 21, 2014. Born in Odenville, Al, she grew up in Boaz, Al. She moved to Mobile in 1954 after marrying Aubrey Walker Hill, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 60 years and 5 months; their children, Dona Jayne Hill, Ann Hill Tobias (Rick), Aubrey "Walker" Hill, III (Tracy), six grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Scott Johnson (Kristan), Elizabeth Thornton, Sarah Hill, Hannah Hill, Ruthie Hill, two great-grandchildren Katy Johnson, Lily Johnson, sister Joyce Elrod Stewert and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmye Ruth's life was lived in service to the Lord and others. She enjoyed serving in WMU, Worship Choir, Sunday School, Handbell Choir, VBS, Children's Choir and Joy Choir. Her church family and friends will celebrate her life in the Worship Center at Moffett Road Baptist Church, 5555 Moffett Road on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Ladies of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class, Dr. Norman Lichtenfeld, Dr. Chad Alford, Dr. Earl Gully, Dr. Troy Henderson, Henry Criswell, Al Yarborough, Mark Krist and Phillip Stanford. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Johnson, Scott Johnson, Marc Hill, Keith Patrick, Kevin Brown and Dr. Paul Gully. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Moffett Road Baptist Church.

Feb. 11, 1922-Nov. 22, 2014 Doris Nellie Patteson Serene, a native of Mobile, AL, former resident of Albuquerque, NM and current resident of Grand Bay, AL passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 age the age of 92. She was a 1940 graduate of Mobile County High School and thereafter graduated from Huffstettler Business College. She was a former employee of International Paper Co. and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She loved to travel and was adventurous. Everyone enjoyed her dry wit and whistling talents. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Alvin Serene; her parents, Edward Samuel Patteson and Annie Gator Patteson; and her siblings, Thomas Edward, Sidney Laurence, Winnifred Annie, Evelyn Marjorie, Ruth Ellen and Alfred William. Doris had no children, but she leaves surviving countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
