Entrance to Mobile Memorial GardensA graveside memorial service for Alfred Scunziano will be held at the cemetery 2:00PM on Monday, 03/30/2015. Family and friends will meet at the Three Notch Rd entrance and drive to the burial site together.

A memorial service is scheduled Saturday March 28th, 2015 at Cypress Shores Baptist Church located at 4327 Higgins Road, Mobile, AL. "Big Al", as he was affectionately known to many, was a pillar of the community. His quite modest personality did not shout his strength of character, compassion and consistent actions to help others. He served his country for over 30 years with tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam, Cuban Crisis and with US Customs defending our borders. His heart was helping kids through sports. He was a co-founder of Boykin Park where he worked selflessly to build the park that has allowed thousands of kids in the Tillman's Corner area a chance to participate in organized sports. He also loved to play softball and was actively competing into his 70's. As a longstanding deacon in the Baptist Church he lived his commitment and relationship with his Lord Jesus. Jesus command is to love God with all our heart and do unto others as we would have done to us. Al lived this mission daily, privately tending to those that needed support and care. All who know Al personally and those he interacted with otherwise liked his warm spirit, quite compassion and strong character. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Please join us for the Memorial Services this Saturday. The family would prefer that a donation to your church or charity in Al's name be made instead of flowers. Flowers should be sent to the church. Memorial Service - Saturday March 28th, 2015 at 11:00AM CST - Cypress Shores Baptist Church, 4327 Higgins Road, Mobile, AL 36519.

Lila Jones

A chapel service for Lila Jones will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, 03/27/2015 from Dignity's Dauphin Street Funeral Service followed by a committal service at the grave site.

November 13, 1918 - March 22, 2015 Our mother, Lila Mae Kelley Jones, left this world to be with God and her husband, Joseph Bancroft Jones,. her father James Franklin Kelley and mother Mallie E. Kelley and three of her siblings, Myrtis Coggin, Hazel McCord, and Lester Kelley, Sunday, March 22, 2015 . Lila was born November 13, 1918 in West Monroe, Louisiana two days after the Armistice was signed, ending World War I. She was born during a terrible flu epidemic, but she and all of her five siblings survived. Her father was James Franklin Kelley who owned a pulpwood business and a contract with International Paper Company. He moved his family and business to Toulminville, a suburb of Mobile, Alabama where he built a brick mansion for his large family on St. Stephen's Road. In the early 1950's the family moved to Mobile and lived on Bromley Place the remainder of Lila's life. Lila was a beautiful girl with a Cinderella complexion, blue eyes, lustrous brown hair, and high cheek bones. She was the third of six children. After settling in Toulminville, her father and mother founded the Toulminville Baptist Church. Lila attended Murphy high school and Huntington College in Montgomery. In 1930 she married our father, Joseph Bancroft Jones from Bayou La Batre. She was introduced to him by her sister who was a student at Judson Women's College. Lila worked in her father's business for five years before becoming pregnant with her first child. The young family settled in Toulminville, where Joseph worked as a forester in her father's business before starting his own pulpwood business--JB Jones Timber Company. Lila was an amazingly giving woman even though she had four young daughters. She was president of the Gorgas Elementary School PTA, made sure her daughters attended their piano and voice lessons, and that all of them did well in school. Lila taught three, four and five year olds in Sunday school for most of her adult life at three different churches – Toulminville Baptist, Westlawn Baptist, and Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Her husband, Joe was a member of the Shriners where Lila participated with the Daughters of the Nile in a dance group that performed at Shriner functions and raised money for the Shriner's hospital and children who were burn victims. The group also performed many other philanthropic activities. Lila was an amazing seamstress and hostess. She raised four beautiful girls and is survived by them all – Joyce Marie Jones Martin (Gary Cabot Martin MD), Linda Gail Jones Moore, Sandra Lee Jones Drummond (Lewis Clarke Drummond), and Janet Carol Jones Baldwin (Wayne Alembert Baldwin), nine grandchildren and seven great-grand children. She is also survived by two of her sisters – Ouida Alford ( Aubrey Alford) and. Mrs. Joyce Coleman (Marion"Buddy" Coleman) All of her family members loved her deeply and are so happy that she is with her husband, her sisters, brother, and her Lord.
