Paul S Ingram

A church service for Paul S Ingram will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, 06/30/2016 from Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, followed by a committal service at the grave site.

Paul Stewart Ingram died at home on Tuesday, June 28, while holding the hand of his wife of 58 years, Linda Stubbs Ingram. The last weeks of his remarkable life were spent courageously battling a recently diagnosed disease while surrounded by the love and caring of his children, Leigh Anne and Bob Fleming, Paula and Bill Kiszla, Kevin and Lisa Ingram, and Kendall and Frank Hurley.
His 11 grandchildren lovingly called him Fat Daddy, a nickname he claimed proudly, inviting special people in his life to call him that too. The light of his life was the accomplishments of Dr. Beau, Alexander Paul and Stephen Fleming, Cameron, Luke and Matthew Kiszla, Rachel, Frances and Patrick Paul Hurley, and Lauren and Tyler Stewart Ingram. As Fat Daddy, he attended football practices and games, ballet recitals, swim and dive meets, UMS-Wright plays and programs, baseball games and band concerts. The joy of his life was officiating at the marriages of grandsons Beau Fleming to Elizabeth Bastar, Alexander Paul Fleming to Lauren Taylor and witnessing the ceremony of Tyler Stewart Ingram to Ashley Cornelius. He was a great-grandfather to Buddy, Betts and Watson Fleming.
He was born January 13, 1938, to Blanche and George Frank Ingram in Leeds, Alabama, and grew up in Bessemer. As VP and General Manager of Phillips Brokerage Company, he moved his family to Mobile in 1971. He served for many years on the Miracle Network Board of the USA Women's and Children's Hospital, the Mobile County Senior Companion Program Board, the Mobile Infirmary Volunteer Chaplain Service, and as the President of the Murphy High School Booster Club (1977-1979). He loved to play golf, spend weekends hunting deer at Gee's Bend, watching the Auburn Tigers play football and attending the sports activities of the St. Paul's Saints.
He was ordained a minister on May 31, 1992, at First Christian Church in Mobile, where he served as Minister of Pastoral Care. He served over 20 years as pastor of Azalea Hills Christian Church, best known in West Mobile as the church with the bridge. In retirement, he joyfully served as interim minister of First Christian Church, Tuscaloosa, and for the past happy and fulfilling year, he was interim pastor at his beloved First Christian Church, Pensacola. He answered to the names Brother Paul, Pastor Paul or Big Daddy to a very special congregation at Snow Hill Christian Church in Fort Deposit.
Besides the immediate family, he is survived by a sister, Flora Ingram Waits, his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Jerre Mitchell, his "adopted" sister Dr. Beth Moulds, and many nieces and nephews.
His friends in ministry Tom GIbson, George Dudley, Dale Braxton with his son, Kevin Ingram, will preside at the memorial service to be held Thursday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church. A family visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until just prior to the service. Pallbearers are his eight precious grandsons, and honorary pallbearers include Mike Largin of Tuscaloosa, Mike Sheftz of Pensacola, Jim Hulsey of Tuscaloosa, Dr. Joe West, Tom Clinton and C.L. Furr. A private internment for family will be held following the ceremony at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family acknowledges with appreciation Dr. Bob Israel and Teri Blow, Dr. Brian Heller and Dr. Frank Pitruzzello, with special thanks to Jessica Norris and Cindy Tinnea, who are special nurses and were angels of mercy during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Next Generation Building Campaign at Manhattan Christian College, 1415 Anderson, Manhattan, KS, 66502.
