M.B. Blakeney, a native of Aliceville, AL and long time resident of Mobile, passed away Saturday February 25th following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Patricia Piper Blakeney; his parents Martin Van Buren and Daisy Boyd Blakeney; three brothers Boyd Blakeney, Floyd Blakeney and LLoyd Blakeney; two sisters Odell and Ora Blakeney. He is survived by two sisters Ruth (Bob) Ricks and Agnes (Buddy) Latham both of Tuscaloosa; numerous nieces and nephews.
Following graduation from Aliceville High School, M.B. enlisted in the military and was a member of the 13th AAF Air Sea Rescue from 1943 to 1946. During World War II he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre where the mission was to rescue downed pilots.
M.B. retired from Graybar Electric Company after 40 years in electrical sales. He was an active and long time member of Springhill Baptist Church where he served as an usher and Sunday School teacher for many years. M.B. was known by his family and friends as being a 'true southern gentleman.' He always put others first and had a heart for service giving his time to Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. His gentle kindness will be missed by many.

Sharon Lola Hager David, a native of Denver, CO and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the age of 72 surrounded by her four children. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Savario and Concetta Ferrante; her parents, Bernard Leo Hager, Sr. and Frances Ferrante Hager; two sisters, Norine Varner and Brenda Browning, and a brother, Gary Lee Hager. Her survivors include her four children, Sherryll Lyons (Robert) Albritton; Ray ''Bo'' Lyons, Jr.; Susan Camie Lyons and the youngest, Linda L. David; her brother, Bernard ''Leo'' Luis Hager, Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her canine companion, Reece; other relatives and friends. Sharon was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Eastern Star. She was an Italian-American who loved to cook for all, especially her family, friends and even people she never met; enjoyed planting flowers, reading, history, and her bibles; politics; Elvis and reminiscing many stories of her mother, aunts, grandmother and siblings. She was a strong, fierce but kind, woman and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Serving as pallbearers will be William Stewart, III, Bryan West, Jr., Jeff Davis, Paul LaRive, Scott Brady and Frank Browning, Jr.

Lagatha Jernigan (56) passed February 24, 2017. She was born April 20, 1960 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She was raised in Irvington, Alabama, and was a long time resident of Mobile, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her father, Arven Owens; grandparents, Harrison and Erna Owens, and George and Ethel Peace; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hope Jones. She is survived by; husband Recie Jernigan; mother, Margaret Owens; daughter, Miranda (Michael) Ebersole; Son, Russell (Amy) Jones; grandchildren, Owen, Mikayla, Michael, and Sara Ebersole; and Caroline Jones; brothers, Arven (Paula) Owens , and Shawn (Julia) Owens; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers are; Russell Jones, Matthew O'Saile, Kerry Deakle, Curtis Mann, Brian Owens, and Shawn Owens, Jr. .

Jon Houston Pritchett

Jon H. Pritchett passed away in Theodore, AL on February 21, 2017, at the age of 37. Jon is survived by his parents, Rebecca Houston and Don Pritchett, siblings, Traci Pritchett, Ryan (Charlsie) Pritchett, and Laura (Nick) Arredondo, and nephews, Nathan, Jim, and Maddux. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his uncle, John Houston.
Jon was born on August 14, 1979, in Mobile, AL and graduated from Theodore High School and Southeast College of Technology. He was employed as a Service Technician at Palmer's Toyota since 2002.
Jon had a huge heart and touched many lives in his short time here on earth and will be greatly missed by countless many.

Maw Maw was born September 1st, 1924 in Moss Point, MS and passed away peacefully in February 22nd, 2017 in Hurley, MS. Despite the location of her birth and death, she was an Alabama woman through and through. She loved to watch and cheer for her favorite team; the Alabama Crimson Tide. She lived most of her adult life in Toulminville and then to Tillman's Corner before moving to Mississippi to be with her daughter, Linda Carole (passed March 2012). Winona was a lifetime member of Tillman's Corner Baptist Church. She loved going on trips with her church friends and singing in the senior adult choir. Winona was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Myrtle Hall, her husband Theodore W. Turk, her daughter Carol Turk Diamond, her daughter Judith (Judy) A. Turk, her son Wesley Bernard Turk, her brother Rev. Earl Hall, her brother Howard Hall, her brother Jim Hall, her brother Clarence Hall, and her sister Ellen Hall. Deborah Young, a native of St. Louis, MO, and a resident of Mobile for the past 25 years, passed away on February 20, 2017. She was an employee of Atker Solutions and was a member of Daysprings Baptist Church. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Joyce Woods. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Curtis Young; two children, Jade and Amber Young; four grandchildren, Annabelle, Justin, Jonathan and Jalynn; two brothers, Gray Woods and Jim Woods; as well as other family members and friends.

Mattisen Marie Woods, a native of Fort Wayne, IN and current resident of Theodore, AL, died Monday, February 20, 2017 at the age of 11. She is survived by her mother, Amanda Marie Covert Woods; father, James William Woods; brother, Osten Nathanyal Woods; grandmother, Tamara Marie Vogan; and great-grandparents, Richard and Esther Vogan; other relatives and friends. Mattisen enjoyed spending time with her family, going on vacations to the beach, and taking trips to McDonalds for French fries. She was a student at Augusta Evans School and the highlight of her day was to ride the school bus back and forth to school. In her quiet time, Mattisen enjoyed watching endless reruns of Peppa Pig and Caiilou. Mattisen was full of enthusiasm and wonder of all things new. Although her words were few, she had a sparkle in her eyes that said it all. We will miss her dearly, our precious Angel.

Mark Damon Gorski, a native of Tampa, Florida and a resident of Mobile since 1992, passed away on February 13, 2017. Mark was a beloved father of Katie and Liza Gorski. He was honest, compassionate and loving. For those who knew him, knew God’s love was extended towards everyone he came in contact with. He wore many hats; CPA, hairstylist, but his greatest talent was his love for others. God blessed him and freed him of this world and now he is in Heaven! May he rest in peace! Melvin Eugene Thomas, a native and longtime resident of Mobile. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sydna Joy Thomas. His 5 kids Linda (Terry)Tressler, George David Thomas, Nancy Davis, Merry( Steve) Watford, & David Thomas, his 8 grandchildren; Angel, Jon, B.J., Bryant,Kerri, Tommy, Stevie & Stephanie; 14 great-grandchildren along with many other family and friends. He was a man that loved life and keeping busy. He enjoyed cooking his famous Gumbo and cheese biscuits. He was a longtime member of Georgetown Assembly of God and loved his church family. He will be greatly missed.
