Mrs. Marjorie Rose Neff, a native of Washington, Ind. and a longtime resident of Mobile, died on Thursday, September 28, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Tom Neff; one daughter, Patty (Steve) Mulkey; one son, Tommy (Cynthia) Neff; one brother, Rev. John (Betty) Miles; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 2 pm. Visitation will start at 1 pm. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Mary Lillian Cross 1928 – 2017 A native of Birmingham, AL and resident of Theodore, AL died on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the age of 89. Mrs. Cross during her working career worked at Brookley AFB, Barton Academy, SS Steele, License Commissioners Office and was a part time substitute School Teacher. She was also hired by an individual for typing the manuscript that would become her autobiography. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Matthew Cross and a son, Gary Steven Cross. She is survived by three children, Duane Cross, Stan Cross and Kim (Terry) Hickman; sister, Mylan Ryan; brother, Gillis Morgan; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. Janet Carol Daniels Combs, a native of Thomaston, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Mrs. Combs was a local hairdresser for over 30 years and a member of Seven Hills Baptist Church in West Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper Otto Daniels and Mary Alice Cannon Daniels. Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, William Russell ''Billy'' Combs, Jr. of Mobile, AL; two sons, William Russell ''Little Billy'' (Billie) Combs, III of Monroeville, AL and Russell Daniel (Lynda) Combs of Mobile, AL; three siblings, Dennis Daniels of San Antonio, TX, Debra Daniels (Rick) Dobson of Mobile, AL and Vickie Daniels (Bill) Higgins of Carthage, TX; twelve grandchildren blessed to call Mrs. Combs ''Maw Maw'', Abigail Combs, Mary Catherine and Matthew Combs, Kaylee, Jacob and Alden Black, Kathryn, Erica, Sarah and Jocelyn Burns, Isabel and Reagan Strickler; eight nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Levi Hopkins, Jr., a native of Mt. Vernon, AL and longtime resident of Theodore, AL, died September 24, 2017 at the age of 76. Levi was a retired Sargent of the Mobile County Sheriff's Dept.; a charter member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he served as a lay speaker and member of numerous church committees and a former employee of the Mobile Greyhound Park. He was a US Navy Veteran; Post Commander of American Legion Post 250; District Commander of District 33 of the American Legion and a lifetime member of VFW Post 49. He was always available to assist his fellow veterans with their benefits paperwork. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi Hopkins, Sr. and Cornelia Ann Byrd Hopkins; his brother, Carl Hopkins; and his sister, Obra Pharr. His survivors include his wife of 38 years, Susan Cain Hopkins; two sons, Scott (Tonya) Hopkins and Ryan Hopkins; two brothers, Charlie (Lois) Hopkins and Paul (Joan) Hopkins; two sisters, Ollie Taylor and Addie Weaver; three grandchildren, Caleb, Connor and Phylise Hopkins; other relatives and many friends. Richard James Hubbard, born January 26, 1929, passed away quietly at his home Thursday, September 22, 2017. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain after 20 years of service. He graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1980. He enjoyed a 22-year career at Ingalls Shipbuilding as an electronics supervisor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Schrader Hubbard; his parents, James Manley Hubbard and Ellon Naomi Hill Hubbard of Harleston, MS; his brother, Lawrence Hubbard of Harleston, MS and his grandson, Andrew Hubbard of Catawissa, MO. His survivors include three children, Bill (Janet) Hubbard of Catawissa, MO, David (Sue) Hubbard of Cary, NC and Carol Jeanne Hubbard of Austin, TX; three step-children, Debbie (Steve) Campbell of Richmond, TX, Diane (Robert) Poythress of Birmingham, AL and Dawn (John) Lewoczko of Jackson, TN; one sister, Dorothy Breland; sister-in-law, Vencil Hubbard of Harleston, MS; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
