Sabrina Starr Gross (Barnett), age 33, native of Alabama and current resident of Mobile, AL., born January 4, 1985 passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Mobile Infirmary, Mobile, AL. Starr put up a great fight against Breast Cancer for thirteen months. Starr was a graduate of B. C. Rain High School and was a very loved property manager of Warren Properties. She loved crawfish and Mexican food. She was a devoted Auburn fan and loved spending time with family and friends. She loved holidays, especially Christmas. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. Starr is preceded in death by her grandfather, Jaye Morton and an uncle Tommy Morton

Starr is survived by her loving and devoted husband; Gabriel Gross; her children; Bianca, Gabby, Mason and Blaise; her mother, Kaye Barnett; grandmother; Jenny Wilks; a brother, Sean Barnett; her sister, Synthia Barnett; nieces, Makayla and Marleigh, nephews, Sean, Shannen and Bailey; uncles, Perry, Kevin, Tony and David, also, other relatives and many friends. Justin David Lee 1986 – 2018 A native of Mobile, AL and resident of New Orleans, LA died on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the age of 31. Mr. Lee was a veteran of the United States Army who did two tours in Iraq. He was a graduate of Baker High School. Justin loved Alabama football and Country music. He is survived by his father, Daniel (Sandra) Lee; mother, Toni (Joe) Bowles; brother, Jeremy Lee; two sisters, Destin Lee and Candace Stanfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM followed by services in the Chapel. Justin Taylor Billa, a native of Houma, LA and current resident of Mobile, AL, died in the line of duty Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Justin was a graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School and the Mobile Police Academy. His lifelong dream was to become a police officer and in January, 2016 joined the Mobile Police Department. He was honored as June, 2016 “Officer of the Month”. He was a member of Dayspring Baptist Church; enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, cooking and spending quality time with his family and friends. He loved Cajun food and Louisiana heritage. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his aunt and godmother, Brenda Pellegrin; and his great-grandfather, Lee Matherne. His survivors include his wife, Erin Elizabeth Billa, his childhood sweetheart; his one-year-old son, Taylor Lincoln Billa; two sisters, Tashia (Jory) Larousse and Kristen Landry; his brother, Brenden Riche’, and his fiancee’, Shelby Samperi; his mother, Gina (Kyle) Jackson; great-grandparents, Jenny Matherne and Paul and Jeanette Luke; grandparents, Dave, Sr. and Christine Matherne; Donald Blanchard, a father figure in his life whom Justin called “Dad”; nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends and his “Brothers and Sisters in Blue” of the Mobile Police Department. Funeral services, officiated by Dr. Brett Burleson and Pastor Mike Hall, will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM from Cottage Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening, February 26, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 8:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Alice Catherine Adams Harris, a native and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 91. She was a longtime active member of Government Street United Methodist Church, served on the Church Board and a member of the Bee Hive. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Adams and Sudie Conway Adams, and her husband, Buford Eugene Harris. Her survivors include her cousins, Freddie (Ann) Browne and Jimmy (Mildred) Conway; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Sue Taulbee Weston died peacefully on Tuesday at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was previously a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama and was a retiree from the United States Attorney’s Office. She was preceded in her death by her husband, John M. Weston and is survived by her son, Jeffrey M. Weston (Lissa), three grandchildren (Davis, Millie Claire, Lila) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and three brothers, Ken, Harold and Don Taulbee, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 11am until 1pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with graveside services at 1pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Mark Drinkard

Mark Edmon Drinkard, born June 14,1951, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on February 15, 2018. He was the firstborn son of Waverly and Margaret Drinkard, born in Houston and raised in Deer Park Texas. Mark spent most of his working life as a Master Printer in the Dallas area, settling down in Kaufman, Texas. He retired from printing in 2012 and then moved to Mobile Alabama in 2016 with his wife Gwen. She was the love of his life for 42 years. Mark was a kind soul with an easy laugh and smile; he never met a stranger. He loved music and played in a garage band as a teen. He loved to surf and spent time in California learning to master the sport, and always loved fishing with friends. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, whether the team struggled or won the Super Bowl, the Cowboys were still number 1. Mark loved spending time with his family and his pet chihuahua, Jake; they were inseparable. He loved technology and was an early adopter of all things Apple combining his love of computers and photography. If Mark was around, so was his camera. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Waverly Drinkard. He is survived by his wife Gwen, his mother Margaret, sister Susan Diermann, sons Shane and Jeff Drinkard, stepson Danny Racine, grandchildren Caleb Drinkard, Hannah Drinkard, Dylan Racine, Faith Racine, and countless friends. Mark’s celebration of life will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday February 19, 2018 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with internment following in the cemetery.

Claude Amos

Claude William Amos, a native of Mt Vernon, IN and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 at the age of 86. Claude was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He continued his Navy service in the Mobile Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association 001 for more than two decades, appearing in local military events and other celebrations. Claude worked 42 years for the Alabama State Port Authority Terminal Railway, which launched is favorite hobby, model railroading and collecting. Claude was a dedicated and devout member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of The Joy Singers and an active member in the 55+ Senior Church Group. Many church friends will remember him for his gentle, humble demeanor. Claude proudly served on Sundays as one of Cottage Hill’s “greeters” and he will be most fondly remembered for his sweet, caring spirit….and his uncanny ability to literally build or fix just about anything! Claude is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Amos and his son Ralph B. (Marcia) Amos, his four grandchildren, Libby (Todd) LaCour, Byron, Todd, and Gil Amos, and his great grandchildren Lila and Margaux LaCour. Claude was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Pauline Amos and his brother Jack. “Pawpaw”, as his grandchildren affectionately called him was a blessing to his entire family and a true example of good. He will truly be missed. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 beginning at 12:30, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The Service will follow and begin at 2:30 in the chapel. Ophis McNealy

Ophis Owyana McNealy, age 81, passed away on February 14, 2018. She was born May 3, 1936 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Lloyd and Eula Tullos. Owyana had been a resident of Eight Mile for almost 60 years and was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Owyana is survived by her son Charles D. McNealy (Debra), daughter, Deirdre McNealy Pearman(Paul) and grandchildren Christopher McNealy, Amellia Pearman Aycock(Brandon) and Abigail Pearman.
Graveside services and interment will be held February 17, 2048 at 1:00 at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
