Tommy Ray Appleby Sr.

A church  service for Tommy Ray Appleby will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, 06/30/2018 from First Baptist Tillman's Corner Church, followed by a committal service at the grave site.

Tommy Ray Appleby, Sr., 66, a native of San Antonio, TX, and a resident of Tillman’s Corner, AL for over 40 years, departed this world to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Although retired, he was an active member in First Baptist Tillman’s Corner Church, where he served in multiple ministries including the choir, elderly home visitation and the finance committee. He was preceded in death by his father, Buster Appleby; mother, Bernice Appleby; brother, Larry Appleby; father-in-law, Cecil Bemis and mother-in-law Sarah Bemis. Tommy is survived by his true love and life-long partner of 39 years, Judy B. Appleby. He is also survived by his four sons, T.R. Appleby (Wyn), Joshua Appleby (Janelle), Jarrod Appleby (Courtney) and Tyler Appleby (Misty); twelve grandchildren, Adi, Aiden, AJ, Allyson, Breanne, Maddox, Nick, Paisli, Peyton, Rachel, Tra, and Zander; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; extended family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Mobile Infirmary critical care unit and Long Term Acute Care staff for the compassionate, loving and professional care they provided Tommy during his Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis fight. Though he has departed this world, his spirit of joy, love and faithfulness will live on through the lives of all those blessed enough to have him in their lives. No doubt he has already heard God say well done my faithful servant. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from First Baptist Tillman’s Corner Church. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Mr. Appleby’s name be made to First Baptist Tillman’s Corner Church.

Wilbur Jackson

Wilbur Barnett Jackson, age 84, of Grand Bay, AL, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his home. He was a native of Thomasville, AL. Barnett was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After his time in the Navy, he worked as an outside salesman for Refrigeration Supply Company and was a member of Travis Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ellen Jackson; parents, Charlie and Marjorie Jackson; and brother, Millard Jackson.Survivors include his daughters, Elaine Christian and Becky Brown; son, Gregory Jackson; grandchildren, Melissa (Will), Jennifer (Sean), Diane (David), Michele, Allen and Katherine (Lyn); ten great grandchildren; brother, Alton Jackson (Flo); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Brother Joe McDonald officiating. Helen Louise Whitehouse Raines, a native of Owensboro, KY and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born June 16, 1930 to the late James Wilbur Whitehouse and Jennie Lee Harris Whitehouse. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, John Thomas Raines. In 1972 she moved to Mobile, AL to open a sewing machine store and later worked as a seamstress for DH Holmes. She and her husband joined their son, Greg, in opening the Lad and Dad Steak and Seafood Market in 1992. After retirement, she invested her time in raising her grandchildren. Her survivors include her daughter, Sharon Ezelle (Paul); her son, Greg (Thelma) Raines; grandchildren, Shelby Raines, Victoria Raines, Jennifer Fulford and Jay Ezelle; her sisters-in-law, Anna Frances Whitehouse (Richard) Howard of Indiana and Lois Garrett of Brewton, AL; two brothers-in-law, Bill Raines (Carolyn) and Harold Raines; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening, July 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Chester Brewer

Chester Arnold Brewer, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Providence Hospital. Arnold was a native of Sand Hill, MS and a resident of Mobile, AL. He attended Mobile Public Schools before serving in the United States National Guard. Arnold loved his Alabama Crimson Tide Football and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Sr. and Iris Brewer; brothers, Jr., Sam and Darrell; brother-in-law, Rainer; and nephew, Darrell Ray. Survivors include his sisters, Bert and Janie (James); brothers, Doug (June) and Bill (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Merl and Shelia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Covenant Care Hospice at Providence Hospital for the compassionate and faithful care they gave Arnold during this difficult time.Pallbearers will be Buddy Neesmith, Shaun Laurio, Kyle Laurio, Michael Johnston, Brandon Johnson, Darren Mullinax and Alan Lowery. Birdie Wood

Mrs. Birdie Henderson Wood a native of Elmore County, Alabama and a longtime resident of Semmes, AL, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday. She was a homemaker, an employee of Dolly Madison, and an employee of Premier Medical. She is survived by her three children; Denise Wood (Larry) Sowell, Bennie Joe (Lori) Wood and Judy Wood (Jimmy) Bragg; one brother, Phillip Henderson; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Bennie T. Wood, father John Hunter Henderson, mother, Dixie Lee Swindall Henderson, and sister Frances Juanita Henderson Tucker. Pallbearers included Michael Sowell, Caleb Bragg, Jeffrey Lasiter, Jake Curtis, Russ Francis, Jacob Pitts and Nathan Davis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 12 noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 10 am. Burke Lee Foster, a native and resident of Mobile, passed away at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Lillian Foster; his son Shannon Foster of Mobile; his daughter Jennifer Lee Foster of Mobile; his 2 granddaughters who were like his own children Nikole Lynn Foster and Meagan Grace Cumbie. He was a Mechanical Engineer by profession. Burke was honorably discharged from the Navy, receiving a National Defense Service Medal, as well as a Bronze Star Vietnam Service Medal. Visitation will be held 11am Wednesday, June 27, 2018 followed by Funeral Service at 12pm at Ascension Funeral Home 1016 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, AL 36695. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Clifton Alexander

Cliff Alexander, a native of Chickasaw, Alabama and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, peacefully passed away at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving wife and family on June 22, 2018. Cliff is a 1968 graduate of Vigor High School and a 1972 graduate of the University of South Alabama. He enjoyed a long career as a medical sales representative and retired from Mobile Gas Corp. Known as an avid fisherman, Auburn fan and a great cook, Cliff was happiest when he was with family and friends, entertaining and making everyone feel welcome. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Hallie Alexander, and his in-laws Rufus and Juanita Cate. He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Sue (Cate); his two children, Jonas (Melonie) Alexander and Leigh Anne (Jason) Seahorn. Known as their Pappy – he is survived by four wonderful grandchildren: Catelyn, Mallory, Cade and Alex. He is also survived by three sisters; Mary Kay (Don) Baker, Beth Alexander and Janie Gardner. Cliff will be missed by many but will be in heaven waiting to greet them all when their day comes to join him. A visitation will occur Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama 36571. Keith Alexander Tunstall, 55, of Grand Bay, AL, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2018. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 9, 1962. He was preceded in death by his father, Alec Tunstall. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Cassie) Tunstall and Ethan (Alyssa) Tunstall; mother, Shirley Elaine Stringfellow Tunstall; two grandsons Levi and Ryan Tunstall and one granddaughter, Lily Tunstall. Serving as pallbearers will be Howard Brinkman, Chris Tunstall, Daniel Stringfellow, Brannan Stringfellow, Doug Davis, and Dearl Fussel.
