A native of Nashville, TN and resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Perigo; children, Thomas (Tracie) Perigo, Sheila Denson and Angie Griffin, Tiffany (Linda) McCoy, Debbie McNickle, Steve McCoy; grandchildren, Justin (Angel) McNickle, Joshua McNickle, Jamie (Brian) Frampton, Clay (Amy) McCoy, Stevie (Maria) McCoy, Thomas Perigo Jr., Cheyenne Perigo and Kimberly Denson; 10 great grandchildren. Evelyn Grace Rider, 78 of Loxley, Al passed away July 28, 2018. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Thursday Aug. 2, 2018 at 12:30 for family. Friends at 1:00 and graveside service at 2:00.
Evelyn was born in McKenzie , Al Feb. 16, 1940 to Obie & Pauline Bowman. She was the 4th child of 12 children. She was a very gifted and talented seamstress and could sew anything. She operated her Custom Drapery Shop from her home in Mobile for many years. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years , Hank Rider, their infant daughter, Paula Anita ,her parents; Obie & Pauline Bowman, brothers; Curtis ( Peggy) Bowman, Roy ( Carolyn) Bowman, George Bowman; Sisters; Betty (J.C.) Sims, Virginia ( James) Godwin, Jeanine ( Gerald) Stringer. She is survived by sisters, Kathryn ( James) Robinson, Ruth ( Horace) Simmons; brothers, John( Marlene) Bowman, Eugene ( Jan ) Bowman , Harvell Bowman. She is also survived by sons, Lee (Kristin Clark),Allen Rider, and Brenda Puckett ( Dwain) Grandchildren; Jennifer Puckett Neidhardt ( Shawn), Allison Puckett Chase ( Brad), Jackson Rider. Great grandchildren-Kaitlin, Kennedy, Karsen & Brady Chase, Viveigh & Deacon Neidhardt and a host of nieces and nephews.

Leo E. Jackson Sr.

A Chapel service for Leo E. Jackson Sr. will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, 07/30/2018 from Radney's Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, followed by a committal service at the grave site.

Leo Everett Jackson, Sr., 96 of Semmes, veteran of the U.S. Army, died at 3:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2018 at the William F. Green State Veterans Home. He was born September 27, 1921 in Silas, Alabama to James Kapok “Bud” and Bertha Lee Page Jackson. He married Ethel Rogenia Allen on March 18, 1950. He is survived by son Kenneth Karl Jackson of Semmes; Grandson Brian Keith (and wife Kim) Jackson and three great-granddaughters Aubry, Lucy, and Ellen of Colorado; one surviving sister Minnie Culpepper and nephew Steve Culpepper of Pasadena, TX; nieces Kay Nancy Kimbell Hebert of Willis, TX; Lisa Marie Littlepage and grandniece Ann Marie Littlepage of Butler, AL; Cheryl Ryals of Mobile; and grandniece Lacy Leigh Boykin Jester and great-grandniece Grace Jester as well as many other nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by parents James and Bertha Jackson, wife Rogenia; son Leo Everett “Bucky” Jackson, Jr.; sisters Dorothy Louise Jenkins, Lottie Mae Boykin, Erma Grace Jackson, and Marie Bertha Littlepage; and younger brother James Lionel Jackson. Leo was a member of New Life Traditional Baptist Church, Semmes, AL., He was an avid reader, loved to fish, and could cook a delicious rack of ribs as he did so many times at family reunions. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father. A resident of the Mobile area for many years, Leo had a successful Air-conditioning and Heating business whereby he helped many hundreds of local residents keep their homes in comfortable temperatures throughout the seasons. This gentle soul is and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation is from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Radney Funeral Home. The 1:00 PM funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Jack Smith from Leo’s home church of Faith Baptist and followed by graveside in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Brian Jackson, Jerry Harris, Chuck Frawley , Wayne Ryals, Charlie Allen, Rob Allen, Daron and Joey Mosley honorary pall bearers.

Margaret Ann Norris

Mrs. Margaret Anne Norris, affectionately known as "Mo" to her friends and family, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 28, 2018 at a local nursing facility. She was born September 13, 1934 to William Edward and Margaret Hodges Warner Koppersmith in Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Norris is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Robert "Bobby" Norris. She is survived by her children: Kathy (Mark) Neno, Bob (Phyllis) Norris, Amy (Paul) Risner, and Maria (Kelly) Cummings; grandchildren: Jessica (Daniel) Cloud, Mark (Trinity) Neno, Adam (Loren) Taylor, Ryan (Christie) Cummings, Nicholas (Heather) Risner, Sean (Morgan Barber) Risner, and Codey (Nicole) Cummings; great grandchildren: Emmy Cloud, Brynna Neno, Jonathan Neno, Maggie Taylor, Thomas Cloud, and Sophie Taylor; brother: Greg Koppersmith; special friend: Marshea Freeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Norris will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from Holy Family Catholic Church with interment immediately following in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will be accepting friends at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Rev. Mark Neske will be the celebrant.

Christine Kossow Christman, age 82, of Stone Mountain, GA, formerly of Mobile, AL, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre, AL. The family will receive friends from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile, AL. A native of Mobile, Mrs. Christman was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She was a longtime member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Christine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cecil Christman of Stone Mountain, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Eybers of Duluth, GA and Angela and Stacey Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA; grandson, Hunter Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Angus Pridgeon of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin Cornelius, Sr. and Clarence Kossow, Jr. and her sister, Evelyn Treadway.

John David Doyle

David Doyle, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was a graduate of Davidson High School. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 32 years, Diana Beck Doyle; his father, John Francis Doyle; his sister, Nancy Doyle Stein, two nephews, Brian and John Stein; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Stevens Doyle. David operated a thriving window cleaning business in Mobile for nearly forty years, and was well known for his steady and diligent work ethic. He also had a passion for gardening, and his backyard overflows with a magnificent muscadine arbor. His proudest achievement, however, was the day he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses June 27, 1975. One of his greatest joys in life was telling others about his faith, and the hope he had of seeing this earth turned into a paradise under God’s Kingdom sustained him through his illness. We know he is alive in Jehovah’s memory, and he will live on in ours. “But as for you, go on to the end. You will rest, but you will stand up for your lot at the end of the days.” (Daniel 12:13). Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Nelma Shewmake

Nelma Grace Smith Shewmake, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 89. Nelma was a faithful witness of Jehovah for 60 years. She loved her god Jehovah and wanted everyone to know about him. She was zealous in her ministry and always in attendance at her meetings. Because of her zealous heartfelt service she helped 46 people directly or indirectly come to love Jehovah. She believed in the hope held out in the bible of a wonderful future here on earth in a paradise. She was employed as a secretary and bus driver for Mobile County Public Schools for many years. Her survivors include one brother, Harold Lamar Smith; four sons, Ronald (Julie) Shewmake, Keith (Cathie) Shewmake, Rodney (Jackie) Shewmake and Tim (Cathy Shewmake; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Mr. James Sumerlin, will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 12:30 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Marion Florence Stoltenberg

Marion Vardas Stoltenberg, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the age of 86. Marion was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church; volunteered in the Mobile Infirmary Hospital Gift Shop for over 14 years; was formerly employed at Brookley Air Force Base and later retired as Senior Administrative Assistant to the Plant Manager of DuPont after over 25 years of service; was queen of a mystic society; loved to sew and garden flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Vardas and Irma Malone Vardas; her husband of 50+ years, John Henry Stoltenberg; and her sister, Anne Vardas Webster. Her survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Stoltenberg Costanza and her husband, Michael Scott Costanza; three grandsons, Nicholas Scott Costanza, Joseph Michael Costanza and John Russell Costanza; her brother, Stanley Manuel Vardas, and his wife, JoAnn Webster; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor David Witt, will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM from Our Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
