Willis Reginald Tillman, age 60, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, at Springhill Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Semmes, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Willis Tillman and Francis Swann; sister, Gwen McDonald; and nephews, Justin Rogers, Steven Hebert, and Brandon Harmon. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elaine Tillman; three sons, Willis (Shauna) Tillman, Jason (Amanda) Tillman, and Jared (Brandi) Tillman; seven grandchildren, Sidney (Monica) Tillman, Paige Tillman, Logan Tillman, Brooklyn Tillman, Connor Tillman, Ashton Hudson, and Tamryn Simmons; mother, Grace Swann; eight sisters, Dewana (Freddie) Rogers, Renita (Jimmy) Hebert, DeAnna (Lawrence) Maples, Kay Kay (Bubba) Wilson, Brandi (Lloyd) Harmon, Cindy Swann, Cathy McCoy, and Chris Kruse; mother-in-law, Joyce Fondren; brother-in-law, Jr (Cindy) Fondren; and nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Pallbearers will be Tim Booth, Lonnie Hamilton, Brent Autrey, Jared Wilson, Corey Lynn, and Richard McLain. Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Tillman, Robbie Maples, and Zachary Harmon.Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Harley officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn George Prentice Higby, a native of Leakesville, MS and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the age of 88. She was formerly employed by Smith’s Bakery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tyra John Prentice and Opal Inez McInnis Prentice; and her husband of 69 years, John Donald Higby, Sr. Her survivors include two children, John Donald (Kay) Higby, Jr. and Marlene Higby (Henri Michael) Rathle; her grandchildren, John Donald Higby, III, Leigh Higby, Alexandra (Ben) Stroecker, Grainger Rathle and Michael Rathle; two great-grandchildren, Lachlan and Addy Stroecker; her sister, Evon Prentice McGowan (James) Carpenter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. A native of River Falls, AL and resident of Mobile, Al died on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the age of 71. Mrs. Collum loved flowers, gardening and going to the beach. She was also an animal lover. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Loyd Collum; four children, Felicity Tanner, Janice Pelletier, Holly True and Kelly (Scott) Opiela; two brothers, Jerry (Betty) Calhoun and Charles (Jean) Calhoun; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Richard Gerald "Jerry" Long
1944-2018

A native and resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 74. Mr. Long worked and retired from Kerr McGee. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a faithful member of Moffett Road Assembly of God Church for many years. He is survived by his two sons, Rick Long and Byron (Kathy) Long; grandchildren, Jordan Long, Blake Long, Brady Long, Carter Long, Emory Long and Noah Long. Graveside services and interment are scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

William Moore

William Clarence “Doc” Moore of Theodore, Alabama passed away peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2018 at age 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Viola Deliska “Dee” Moore; daughters Margie Mauldin (Manning), Martha Weekley (Clint), and Trixie Snead (Rodney); grandchildren Abby Mauldin, Will Mauldin, Alison Boxold (Nick), Katherine Weekley, Walker Weekley, Brad Snead (Erin), Ben Snead (Leslie-Ann), Mary Beth Beard (Andy); great-grandchildren Emory Snead, Ann-Copeland Snead, Patton Snead, and Olivia Beard. He traveled the world during his service in the Merchant Marines before being drafted by the Army during WWII. He worked for the FAA as an aviation instrument tech until he retired, and went on to teach electronics at the local community college. He dedicated his life to his family and God, an active member of First Baptist Church Theodore, Alabama for many years. An avid fisherman and member of the Dauphin Island community, he volunteered for many years at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 26, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

A native of Fulton, MS and a resident of Centreville, AL died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the age of 92. Mrs. Barnes loved her grandchildren and was known for her cooking and hospitality. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Z. Barnes. She is survived by her two children Terry Barnes and his wife Jeana, and Suzie Barnes Lee and her husband Butch; five grandchildren, Blake Barnes, Jolie Lee Wilson and husband Casey, Scooter Lee, Amanda Barnes Petro and husband Matthew, Jesie Lee Ingram and husband Mason; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Abel Wilson, Parker Petro and Blakelee Ingram; in addition many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. George Edward Connell, Jr., a native of Mobile, AL, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the age of 78. He was a fire fighter for the City of Mobile for many years; a member of the US Coast Guard Reserves and an avid Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward Connell, Sr. and Sadie Chambless Connell; his wife, Colleen Connell, and his brother, Michael David Connell. He is survived by his two children, Michele Connell Dumas and her husband, Vincent, and George Edward Connell, III; six grandchildren, Megan Baker Hines (Charles), Elizabeth Ann Dumas, Justin Rountree (Heather), Ross Rountree, Boyd Edward Connell and Matthew Joseph Connell; six great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Charlie Hines, Dempsey, Pipe and Rowan Rountree, and Peyton Connell; his brother, Paul Vincent Connell, Sr. (JoAnne); his sister, Lorna Connell Smith (Ronnie); a dear friend, Joseph Salata; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. A native of Hollandale, MS and resident of Mobile, AL died on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the age of 82. Mrs. Wright was a dedicated choir member at Luke 4:18 Fellowship. She loved painting, water color and gardening. She was an avid Alabama fan. She is survived by her children, Sandy E. (Alan) Harrison, Michael E. (Robin) Wright, Ricky E. (Beverley) Wright and Regina A. (Ron) Leatherman; grandchildren, Blain Wright, Ryan Wright and Tyler Harrison; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM. Nicholas “Nick” Channing Coale, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, October 20, 2018 after a two-year illness. He was Vice-President of Giannini Insurance Agency; loved animals; had a passion for always helping others and enjoyed repairing old machinery. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Harold Coale and his paternal grandparents, Charles H. Coale and Anna Mae Coale. His survivors include his mother, Pamela Louise Giannini Hendon; his step-father, Barry Hendon; his maternal grandparents, Louis R. Giannini and Nell Rhea Lucas Giannini; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
