Barbara Ann Hodge Weatherly, age 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 22, 2026. She was born on March 9, 1944, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to George Porter Hodge and Lillian Hodge, the youngest of thirteen children. On April 13, 1960, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, she married the love of her life. As the devoted wife of a military serviceman, Mrs. Weatherly faithfully supported her husband and children for more than 20 years, always willing to pack up and begin again wherever duty called. Mrs. Weatherly attended First Baptist Church of St. Elmo for many years, where she found great joy in worshiping her Lord and Savior. Gifted with remarkable intelligence and a natural ability to master nearly anything she set her mind to; Mrs. Weatherly excelled in every season of life. She worked for Associated Milk Producers in Montgomery, Alabama, a plant nursery in Mobile, Alabama, and later served as a secretary for Paul Slater Construction Company in Pascagoula, Mississippi, before retiring. Beyond her professional career, she was truly a "Jill of All Trades." Whether styling hair, doing nails, repairing upholstery, working on machinery, sewing alterations for casino employees and performers, or helping her daughter hang wallpaper and paint at the shipyard, she approached every task with skill, precision, and determination. Above all, Mrs. Weatherly was the matriarch and steady anchor of her family. Her strength, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Weatherly was preceded in death by her parents and her 12 siblings. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 66 years, Douglas Wayne Weatherly; 4 children; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
