Mrs. Claudia Inez Chapman, born on November 1, 1938, in Greene County, Mississippi, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by the peace and promise of eternal life as she went home to be with her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Roy and Hattie Lee Welford; her devoted husband, Joseph Raymond Chapman, Sr.; and her cherished daughter, Terri McDuffie.
Mrs. Chapman retired from USA Medical Center after 20 years of dedicated service, where she faithfully cared for others throughout her career.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was an active member of Moffett Road Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Bereavement Committee and sang in the choir. She was also a longtime member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church, where she built many lasting friendships and served her church family with love.
Mrs. Chapman was also deeply committed to serving those in need through The PASCO Home. She proudly served as a member of the Board of Directors for the past 18 years and faithfully prepared meals for residents five days a week for four and a half years. Her servant's heart, compassion, and unwavering dedication touched countless lives.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sister, Norma Hankins, her children, Phillip Stanford, Joey (Susan) Chapman, Brenda (Andy) Hicks, and Bobby (Bobbie) Chapman; her grandchildren, Allen Chapman, Shana (Chris) Gray, Allie (Paul) Henderson, Trayce (Jamie) Hicks, Mason (Trish) Chapman, and Kendall McDuffie; her great-grandchildren, Abbie Chapman, Christopher "CJ" Gray, Jr. and Camden Hicks; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished extended family members and lifelong friends.
Mrs. Chapman will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, servant's heart, and the love she poured into her family, church, and community. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion to Christ will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Moffett Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:00am with service at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
