Franklin Delano Brown, Sr., devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, businessman, veteran, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, generosity, adventure, and unwavering love for his family. Born on October 27, 1933, in Talladega County, Alabama, Frank was the son of James Washington Brown and Beulah Jane Stonecipher Brown. He was the ninth of ten children, growing up alongside four sisters and five brothers in a close-knit family that shaped the values he carried throughout his life. Frank graduated from B.B. Comer High School, where he earned the distinction of Salutatorian of his class. Following graduation, he proudly served four years in the United States Navy in Naval Aviation. While stationed in Pensacola, Florida, he met the love of his life, Joy Louise McDonald. Their courtship blossomed and they were married on October 8, 1954, beginning a remarkable journey together that would span almost 72 years of love, devotion, and shared adventures. Committed to lifelong learning, Frank earned an associate's degree through the Extension Center of the University of Alabama. He went on to build an accomplished career in business, serving as Vice-President of Campbell Piping Contractors, Inc. as well as President of Azalea City Racing Club, Inc., and Chairman of the Board of Mobile Greyhound Park. He was also a proud member of UA Local 119 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union and served on the Executive Board of Gaming Insurance International, Ltd. Frank's heart for service extended far beyond his professional achievements. He was a faithful member of Christ United Church, where he served on the Finance Committee. He was a supporter of Feeding the Gulf Coast and dedicated his time to serving the homeless through McKemie Place and 15 Place. He was also a charter member of the National WWII Museum, a cause especially dear to him because of the loss of his beloved brother, Charles, during World War II. An adventurer at heart, Frank embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He traveled the world, piloted his own airplane, and eagerly pursued extraordinary experiences. His adventures included skydiving, hang gliding, manning a glider, and descending 1,000 feet beneath the sea in a submersible. He loved entertaining family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and hospitality wherever he went. His generosity knew few limits, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all else, Frank was a family man. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved and took immense pride in watching his family grow through the generations. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Louise McDonald Brown; his children, Joy Lynne Brown Hardy; Leigh Brown Hill and husband, Bill Hill, Jr.; Cleo Lorene "Lori" Brown Cheney and husband, Lain Bryant Cheney; and Frank Brown, Jr. and wife, Kristina Rae Brown. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. Frank will be remembered as a quiet and gentle man whose strength was found in his humility, whose generosity touched countless lives, and whose love for his family was beyond measure. His life was a testament to his faith, service to others, courage, and kindness. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through the hearts of all who knew and loved him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the devoted caregivers and hospice staff whose compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication lovingly cared for Frank during the final 18 months of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Young Life, Feeding the Gulf Coast, or the charitable organization of your choice, in honor of Frank's life.

A funeral service will be held on July 13, 2026, at Christ United Church on 6101 Grelot Rd, Mobile, AL 36609. The family will receive friends at 11 am, service to start at 12pm. Internment to immediately follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
