Jule Sellers

May 3, 2019
Jule Bland Sellers of Mobile, AL died on Monday April 8, 2019, at the age of 86. She is survived by three children David Sellers (Tina), Bill Sellers (Jill), and Susan Walker (David), and six grandchildren, Ross, Kyle (Andre), Hanna, Chris, Sam, and Laura. She was preceded in death by her husband Ennis G. Sellers, parents Oscar Lee Bland and Mildred Starling Bland, two sisters Alice Bland Solomon and Betty Bland Wood. Jule was born in Abbeville, AL and grew up there through high school. Her earliest memories included playing with her sisters in pecan trees around her home, fishing with her father, and going to church activities at the Methodist Church. She joined the Methodist Missionary Society at age 6 and was active in MYF and choir. She attended Huntingdon College for two years and during that time met, became engaged, and married Ennis Sellers, the new pastor at the church in Abbeville. They were married for 65 years and served 15 churches throughout the Alabama-Northwest Florida Conference. She was active in all facets of the church as well as the Civil Rights movement during the 1960s. Jule and Ennis were a great team serving the Lord and we are glad they are back together. Jule’s story is one of great compassion, empathy, and full belief in the words of Jesus “that we should love one another”. She was the cornerstone of our family and we will miss her happy smile, beautiful voice and caring thoughtfulness. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Ashland Place UMC, 15 Wisteria Ave, Mobile, AL, 36607, on Saturday May 4th. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 in the church fellowship hall, followed by a service from 11:00 to 12:00. Burial will follow the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Tillman's Corner. The service will be conducted by Rev. Joseph Reams, Rev. Sterling Boykin, and Rev. Thomas Irby. Music will be provided by Organist Beth Atkinson and soloist James Ellis. The family is thankful for the great care provided by Miss Morgan Beck and the many caregivers and friends at Somerby Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, the family request gifts may be made to Ashland Place United Methodist Church, or the United Methodist Children's Home, 3140 Zelda Ct, Montgomery Alabama, 36106.
