Linda Pridgen - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Linda Pridgen

June 30, 2020
Linda “Carol” Pridgen, 77, went to be with the Lord on June the 26th, 2020. She was a long-term resident of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Carol was born in Mobile, Alabama, to Albert Duke and Lela Pruett along with three siblings: Gloria, Louise, and Albert (Bubba). She married Douglas Pridgen on July 3, 1982. Carol retired from Union Carbide after many years of service. She will be remembered as a loving wife, doting mother, and dear friend. She loved her family, and most importantly, without question, her husband. She enjoyed, what some may call, the ideal life, living on the water surrounded by what has become to be known as “the sunset capital of the world”. She enjoyed the simple things in life like cooking (especially, blackberry jam), riding her bike, star gazing, and spending the evenings with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and her loved ones. She and Doug spent much of their time on a boat; whether that be for fishing or a sunset cruise, they both had a calling for the ocean. Her life with her husband was full of laughter and fond memories, and will stand the test of time as unequaled. Those who knew Carol, knew she loved and adored him deeply. Carol often spoke of her late mother, whom she cherished her time with. She once said that her mother had a keenness for elegant birds, and it was to her belief that when she saw a blue jay outside her home it was her mother sending a sign that she was with her always. Carol loved her family and would always hate to see them leave after a vacation on Dauphin Island or just a quick family get-together. Her love for the ones who surrounded her was undeniable. Carol is survived by her husband, Douglas Pridgen; her sister Gloria Couch of New Market, AL, and Albert Dupree Pruett and wife, Rosa, of Mobile, AL; her children: Joseph Reed of Baton Rouge, LA, Casey Reed and wife, Cindy, of Baton Rouge, LA, Lisa Pridgen of Mobile, AL, Rhonda Knowles and husband, Ricky, of Orange Beach, AL, and Tina Lubsen and husband, Kyle, of Pelham, AL; 7 nieces and nephews; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 2nd. Visitation is from 12:00-2:00 pm, with the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1.
