Odell James, a native of Prichard, AL and resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 71.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father that enjoyed being surrounded by his family, traveling, and serving his church. He was a longtime member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a prominent member of the choir. Odell was a skilled tradesman and entrepreneur, building his company, Odell James Concrete, from the ground up. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Marie Simpson (Mike Simpson Sr.); father, Ledell James Sr; brothers: Ledell James Jr (Littie Pearl) and Mike Simpson Jr; sister, Claudia Stallworth; and niece, Marsha Stallworth Ratchford. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lillie Pearl James; children: Demetrius James (John Edward), Marquis James (Rosette), and Tamica James (Jillian); grandchildren: Bria James and Kia Smith; great-grandchild, Carson Alexander; loving siblings: Maxine WIlliams (Stanley), Deborah Simpson, Tony Simpson, Angela Thomas (Elliot), and Darryl Simpson (Pam); and a host other loving relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Road Mobile, AL 36619. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church located at 210 W. Clark Ave Prichard, AL 36610, followed by graveside services and interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
