Rev. Gene Kerr, born in Pittsburg, California and a long term resident of Mobile, Alabama, died on Saturday, March 30, 2019 after a recent diagnosis and illness. He faithfully served God and the congregation of Fulton Road Baptist Church as Minister of Music, filling the pulpit on occasion, as the Christian School principal, as SundaySchool teacher, and other capacities for over 40 years. He graduated from Mobile College receiving an academic achievement award. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole; his son Eddie (Sonya); his grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, and Emma; his brother Michael Kerr (Nadine); his brother-in-law Ronald Phillips (Linda); his brother-in-law Jesse Phillips (Debbie); his nephew Lawson Phillips (Rebecca and children Wyatt and Mary); Uncle E.W. Phillips (Geneva); and other relatives. Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will be at 12:30 pm followed by Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fulton Road Baptist Church Building Fund. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, 04/04/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.

I cannot find special words to adequately express my feelings about Brother Gene, only to say I have a heart full of love for him to offer in exchange for his tremendous heart full of love for God, family and for everyone who ever passed his way.
