Stephen “Wayne” Campbell, born May 22, 1951, passed away at his home on July 3, 2026. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mabel Campbell, Jr. He is survived by his siblings Jane (Bob) Meyett, Michael (Beverly) Campbell, and Richard Campbell; six nieces and nephews; nine great‑nieces and great‑nephews; and four great‑great‑nieces and great‑great‑nephews. A lifelong resident of Fowl River, Wayne graduated from Theodore High School in 1969 and continued his education at Southwest State Technical School, where he studied auto mechanics. After completing Interstate Training System requirements, he began a 12‑year career with Gulf Coast Dr Pepper. Wayne later joined Gulf States Hangers and Supports, where he worked for 36 years in shipping and fabrication, including serving as fabrication shop supervisor, before retiring in 2023.
Wayne will be remembered for his love of classic cars and his generous spirit which was evident in the gardens he tended each year, always producing more than he needed and sharing the surplus with those he cared about.

The family invites you to honor and remember Wayne at the Chapel Mausoleum at Mobile Memorial Gardens (Nevius Road entrance) on Saturday, August 1, at 1:00 p.m. A private inurnment service for the family will follow the time of remembrance.

I just saw the post of Wayne passing. I am so sorry. We went to school together from the 1st to the 12th grade. After graduating, I rode to the TradeSchool with him for several months. I went to the first dance as a Freshman at Theodore High with him. We were good friends, but lost contact after I moved from Fowl River. Boy time flies. Praying for all of you.
