Walter Lester Kirk, Jr, born October 3,1922, joined the love of his life, Runelle Jones Kirk, in heaven on May 15, 2019, at the age of 96. He served in WW II as a Navy Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class in the Philippines campaign and worked his entire career, 46 years, at Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lester Kirk, Sr. and Sally Ethyl Mayer; his brother, George Kirk; two sisters, Marjorie Thames and Evelyn Davis, and his son, James David Kirk.
His survivors include one son, Walter Lester (Mary) Kirk, III; two daughters, Lee Chenevert and Karen (Bob) McFarlane; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, 05/25/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
