Arliegh Tanner Rigby, who was born in Jackson County Mississippi on November 16, 1933 went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 16. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Rigby Parker and her husband Allen of Mobile, son-in-law Tom Davies of Lancaster, PA, grandsons Joseph Davies (Elizabeth) of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Davies of Burlington, NJ as well as great grandchildren Page and Alex Davies of Raleigh. Her husband, Joseph H. Rigby, Jr. and daughter Charmanne Rigby Davies predeceased her in 1977 and 2018 respectively. Her husband’s service in the United States Air Force resulted in moves across the country and world. Arliegh devoted the early part of her adult life to raising her family in such diverse places as Germany, Tucson, Arizona, and Dover, Delaware along with closer places such as Gulfport, Mississippi. Following her husband’s retirement from the Air Force and the family’s return to Mobile in 1972, Arliegh began a successful business career as a credit manager with D.H. Holmes Department Store and its successor, Dillard’s. Arliegh was an active member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and both taught and participated in its Sunday School program. She also devoted many hours of service to local mission projects including Home of Grace, Haven of Hope and McKemie Place. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with internment to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Home of Grace or Spring Hill Baptist Church.
