Marie Sheehy Grip, 66, passed away while surrounded by family on May 3, 2019 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. She was a native of the Boston-area, and a resident of Mobile, Alabama. She is survived by the love of her life, devoted husband of 45 years, Robert Grip; daughters: Erin Brown (Jeremy) and Mary Kate Russell (Brien); four grandchildren: Benjamin Russell, Gabriel Brown, Samuel Russell, and Anna Brown; sister Ellen Sheehy (Colleen); brothers: Edmund Sheehy (Su Lin) and Paul Sheehy; niece Katie Perkins; nephews: Steven Perkins, John Sheehy, Patrick Sheehy, and David Sheehy; grandnephews: Thomas Perkins and Arthur Perkins; and beloved cousin, Carol Hallisey. Marie was preceded in death by her loving parents Edmund and Rita Sheehy and birth mother, Margaret Byrne.
Marie lived a life of service to others. She was a proud graduate of Boston College and took great joy in furthering causes dear to her heart: the arts and Catholic education. She served as the Development Director for Mobile Ballet, where she co-founded the Nutcracker Charity Ball, and later helped to establish Classical Ballet of Mobile. She traveled the world with her favorite ballroom dance partner, husband Robert, and was an unwavering supporter of Boston College Football. Marie used her brilliant mind and Sisters of St. Joseph-education to boost the careers of fledgling authors as an editor for self-published novelists. She was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Catholic Parish, where she served in numerous capacities, including School Board President.
