Dessa Ava Lyles Phillips, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the age of 87. Ava enjoyed a 30-year career with Chris C. Delaney Small Business Management Corp. and, to this day, remained an integral part of the Delaney family. She was an active member of the Woodmen of the World. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dulan Erman Lyles and Alice Zeola Moseley Lyles; her son, Elliott Ray Phillips, Jr.; her brother, Erman Lyles; her sister, Jean Lyles Godwin and her grandson, Jesse Ross Givens. Her survivors include three daughters, Deborah Phillips, Terri (Rex) Givens and Toni Phillips (Louie) Richardson; one brother, Dulan Earl (Eva) Lyles; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a devoted niece, Joy Miller; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
