Wayne Charles Johnson., 72, a highly decorated veteran of Mobile, Alabama passed
away on Sunday, June 30th, 2019.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts and raised nearby, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Air
Force at age 21. He became a Jet Engine Mechanic, a Staff Sargent and served in
Vietnam. After six years with the Air Force, Wayne enlisted with the U.S. Coast Guard
where he was given the nickname “Mr. Grumpy”. He truly earned that name and always
wore it proudly. He served 25 years prior to his retirement in 1995 as a Chief Petty
Officer. Wayne enjoyed reading, gardening, sailing, and riding his Harley.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Chester F. Johnson and Barbara Rust
Johnson, and his sister, Pamela Johnson Carter. He is survived by his loving and
caring wife of 28 years, Glenda Young Johnson; stepdaughters, Renee Martin Feagin
(Joe) and Ann Marie Martin; granddaughter Hannah; brother, Clayton McRae of
Massachusetts; other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, July 3rd,
2019. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Chapel service at noon, followed by a
Military Funeral Honors burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, 07/03/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
