Valley Jackson Vickrey of Mobile, AL passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born to C. B. and Laura Mae Bass Vickrey in Huxford, AL. He graduated from McCullough High School and served as a Corporal the US Army Air Corps and the US Air Force. He worked for the GM&O Railroad and retired from International Paper Company and the American Red Cross. He was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Marcia Allen Vickrey of 64 years, his daughter, Angela Dixon (Timothy) of Rochester, NY, and two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Dixon of Rochester, NY and Katherine Rose Dixon of Buffalo, NY. He is preceded in death by his son Steven Jackson Vickrey.
He was blessed to have many loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Barbour (Richard) of Mobile, AL and Lanelle Bell of Macon, GA. He is preceded in death by six siblings; Ardieth Vickrey, Graydon Vickrey, Cathryn Gilbert, Laura Vickrey, Winnogene Eidem, and C. B. Vickrey, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 1pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be Timothy Dixon, Theodore Olney, Bob Blake, Brian Barbour, Crandall Barbour, and William Barbour.
