Mrs. Jewell Vernell Highsmith Colee, age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Sadie Highsmith, husband, Clifton Colee, three children; Vera Jones, William Gary Preston, Randy A. Preston and four siblings.
Mrs. Colee retired after many years in retail sales with McRae’s (Belk) Department Store and was a longtime member of Georgetown Assembly of God. Jewell was always known for her kindness and respect for others. She was a joyful, happy person who shared that joy wherever she was. Her grandchildren will remember her as “the strongest woman I’ve ever known”..she was a perfect role model. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mrs. Colee is survived by her children; Bruce N. Preston, Brenda F. Pierce (Jerry) and James Andrew Preston. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Jean Chambers, eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
