Barbara Lott Keller, a native of Mobile, Alabama died December 2, 2020 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents William Everett Lott and Fern Lott Nungesser, her husband of 64 years Clarence C. Keller, brothers W. Everett Lott, Jr. and Guerre Patrick Lott, son Clarence C. “Neil” Keller, Jr. of Shenzhen, China; and two sons-in-law, Grady C. Wilson and James J. Alvarez III. Her survivors include her daughters Karen Keller Wilson and Kathryn Keller Hutchins (Joe), both of Baldwin County, and Lauren Keller Alvarez of Mobile; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and other relatives including her “sisters” Jude Lott and Sandra Hathaway.
Barbara graduated from Bishop Toolen Catholic High School. While there, she was selected to serve on the first Azalea Trail Court. Barbara held various jobs including working in the night bookkeeping department at Merchants National Bank along with her husband Clarence. After her children were older, Barbara had a successful career as an officer at First Southern Federal Savings and Loans. A member of St. Pius X Catholic Church since 1956, she served on many committees and performed many voluntary activities at the church and school. She was a member of the Sodality and Riese Club. Barbara could often be found in the kitchen of the St. Pius Sarto Center where she helped host many activities including the Sodality Christmas Breakfast. She served in the St. Joseph Altar Society and volunteered at St. Mary’s Home. She was a longtime volunteer at Providence Hospital. Barbara had many friends and a real zest for life. Mention her name and usually someone will say, “Barbara loved to dance.” She was often asked to bake one of her famous rum cakes or to make some of her hot cheese sandwiches. She was a member of a “cut-throat” bunco club for many years and really enjoyed playing bingo. Her “girls” Karen, Kathy, and Lauren would like to thank Dr. Steve Alsip, Father J. Savoie, and the employees of Dauphin Way Assisted Living (especially Chef Anthony and Quita with whom Mom formed a special bond), the nurses and staff of Kindred Hospice, and her round the clock sitters who lovingly provided her with care, support, and attention and tried to ensure her comfort. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, December 5 at 10:00. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
