Charles David Thomas, affectionately called Dave by his family and friends, went to be with his Savior Jesus on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Dave was born on November 6, 1959 in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his father Jack H. Thomas, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Janice Thomas, his brother Jack H. Thomas, Jr. (Lisa), two nieces Cathryn Rillo and Laura Thomas, great nieces Lily O'Neal and Ella Rillo; Great Nephew Mason Rillo. Denise Garvin and her children Nicholas Garvin and Bethany Garvin and Brianne Harbison and her children Madelyn Harbison and Buddy Harbison were blessed by the love "Uncle Dave" bestowed on them. He is survived by other relatives and friends.
Dave received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and earned his master's degree in theatre arts from Humbolt State University. His talent for writing and directing screenplays was incredible. He could recount an ordinary event in a manner that caused whoever listened to be filled with awe and laughter. He had an infectious laugh and smile. Dave spent hours carving plastic pumpkins so they could be used year after year for fall decorations for his family and friends. Dave worked as a TSA officer at the Mobile Regional Airport.

On Thursday, August 12, 2021, a visitation will be held for family and friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. To honor Dave, a graveside service will be held at 12 noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
