Doreen "Dodie" Silcox, age 76, of Wilmer, Alabama passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Arvin Virgil Silcox; her mother, Eva Faircloth Silcox Grissett; her brother, Marvin Virgil Silcox; and her nephew, Tracy Grant Steadham.
She is survived by her sister, Joann Green of Flomaton, AL; a bonus sister and cousin, Linda Steadham of Flomaton, AL; nieces and nephews, Stacey Steadham (Christy) of Bay Minette, AL, Kathy Steadham of Century, FL, Cherie Silcox Perry of Nashville, TN, Shawn Silcox (D.D.) of McDavid, FL, and Christina Silcox Kerns of Flomaton, AL; bonus nieces, Audrey Killam of Flomaton, AL, Amanda Steadham of Flomaton, AL, and Angela Wright of Flomaton, AL; great-nieces and great-nephews, Leann Steadham of Pace, FL, Wesley Steadham (Carissa) of Clarksville, TN, Casey Steadham (Victoria) of Century, FL, Cory Steadham (Cayley) of Bay Minette, AL, and Courtney Steadham of Daphne, AL.

She was also preceded in death by her great love Benny Reid, Della Reid, and Brantley Mason Wright.
She graduated from Flomaton High School in 1964 then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, in 1968. She began her teaching career in Dalton, Georgia before moving back home to Escambia County, AL, where she worked for over 30 years with the Escambia County School System. Following her retirement in Alabama she taught an additional 5 years for the Mississippi School System. Doreen continued to work and stay busy following her retirement from the Mississippi School System, working for Walmart for several years.
Doreen loved her friends and family with all of her heart. She loved to sing and serve her Lord and Savior. Doreen loved to help others. She loved to sew, craft, cook, and garden. If you visited her home, you never left hungry or in need. She believed there was never any problem duct tape and prayer could not fix! (That included her 1994 Chevy Cavalier Station wagon.)
Pallbearers will be Ben Reid, Bobby Reid, Stacey Steadham, Alvin Hutchinson, David Johnston, and Bryan Kreamalmeyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. Robert Cobb, Riffit Reid, Frank Conko, Wesley Manning, Steve Littrell, and Andrew Stanley.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
