Sidney Elizabeth (Beth) Cain of Mobile, Alabama, died surrounded by her children and husband on October 15, 2021.
Beth was born to Gordon and Hattie Riley on October 10, 1945, the middle sister to her four siblings. She and Leo Cain, Jr., married on February 4, 1967. In 1980, Beth’s dream of living on Mobile Bay came true as she, Leo, and the kids moved to Belle Fountaine. Over the next forty years, Beth and Leo raised their children on The Bay, welcoming their children’s spouses and then grandchildren into the family. After a forty-year career with Regions Bank, Beth found great joy in retirement—volunteer work with Saint Pius X Church, her multitude of orchids and lilies, and her grandchildren, whom she spoiled as only the best grandmothers do. Above all, Beth’s legacy is her fifty-four-year marriage to Leo, four children, eight grandchildren, and her formidable Catholic faith.
Beth is survived by husband Leo Cain, Jr., children Kimberly Frank (John), Kellie Reid (Rusty), Jodie Smith (Jay), and Leo Cain, III, (Rachel), and grandchildren Lizzie Frank, Cooper Frank, Mary Kate Frank, Josephine (Joey) Reid, Tucker Reid, Bay Smith, Destiny Tindle, and Kara Cain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie and Gordon, and eldest brother Ray Gordon Riley.

A funeral Mass will be held in Beth’s honor at Saint Pius X Catholic Church at 11am on Thursday, October 21, with Visitation from 9-10:30am in the Sarto Center and Words of Remembrance and Rosary at 10:30am in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Beth’s honor to Saint Pius X Catholic School. To make a donation, call (251)473-5004.
