Patsy Ruth Lilley (née Conn) passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022, in Mobile, Alabama. She was born in Mobile on December 2, 1941, to Bert and Dorothy Conn. She attended St. Matthews Catholic School and then Bishop Toolen School for Girls, where she graduated in 1959. She became a Registered Nurse in 1962 after completing the Providence Nursing Program, and she worked at Providence Hospital afterward. It was during her nursing training that she began dating John W. (“Jack”) Lilley Jr. They married on May 25, 1963, and remained so for almost fifty-nine years. Pat and Jack raised their four children in St. Dominic’s Parish, where they were both volunteers in several roles, including especially their long tenure as directors of the parish’s Catholic Youth Organization. When Pat returned to work later in life, she did so as a secretary in the office of the Mobile Fire Department, Fire Prevention, and she enjoyed many new friendships there until her retirement in 2004. At that time, she became a full-time grandmother to her ten grandchildren, attending every sporting event, school and church function, and activity she possibly could. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her children John W. Lilley III, Lisa M. Mecom (Andrew), Laurie A. Glover (John), and Christopher P. Lilley (Robin); and grandchildren Caldwell A. Lilley, Collier S. Lilley, Channing M. Lilley, Sarah A. Mecom Price (Patrick), Lindsey C. Mecom, Matthew S. Glover, Aiden C. Lilley, Katherine I. Lilley, and Everett W. Lilley. She was predeceased by her grandson, Cage H. Lilley. Pat’s family extends their sincere thanks to the many caregivers who worked with her in the last years of her life, allowing her to remain at home.
