oseph "Eugene" Leonard, 71, long time resident of Eight Mile, Al, passed away on Sunday February 20, 2022. He was surrounded in love by his family and friends. Eugene was a devoted husband, father, great friend to many, and fur dad to Noah. Eugene was born in Mobile, Al to Joseph and Essie Leonard. After attending school at Murphy High, Eugene went to work for the Grocery Industry for 40 years. He retired in 2017 spending his time fishing, boating with Mark and Kelly Johnson and Grandsons, Jordan, Kip and Maddox, being one of Auburn's most proud fans, car racing, vacationing in the mountains with Delbert and Debbie Burgard and enjoying fellowship and services at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Essie Leonard, son Timothy Leonard, brother Earl Boone, sister Jeanette Coxwell, brother in laws, Lester Griffith and George Griffith. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Elaine Leonard of 49 years, son Gene (Jill) Leonard, his brother Bobby Leonard, and sisters Louise Campbell, Brenda Singleton, Dianne(Bobby) Holifield, brother in laws, Frankie (Sandy) Griffith, Wayne (Gloria) Griffith, Keith (Heather) Griffith, Ronnie (Stephanie) Griffith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Indian Springs Baptist Church 4241 Lott Rd. Eight Mile, Al 36613 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the church at 12:00 p.m. with a Graveside service to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery
