Sarah Ethel Solomon Woodard, age 96 was a native of Frisco City, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Chickasaw, Alabama. She passed on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones following a lengthy illness. During WWII, Sarah learned welding; she became a First Class Welder making 1.20 an hour and was so proud of that accomplishment. After the war she worked at Malbis Bakery until 1963, when she married William, the love of her life. Sarah took great pride in caring for her family to enjoy. Sarah and William would always extend a helping hand to those in need, visiting the sick, and sending thoughtful cards to brighten someone's day. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Walter and Mary Ethel Pugh Solomon; her beloved husband of forty-eight years, William A.Woodard; and her son, Ray M.Woodard. Left to cherish Sarah's beautiful memories will be her daughter-in-law, Ronda Woodard; two brothers: Ford Solomon of Monroeville, Alabama, Thomas Solomon of Pensacola, Florida; as well as many devoted nieces, nephews, other family members and many wonderful friends. Honoring Sarah as pallbearers will be Scottie Byrd, Shawn Smith, Luke Smith, Gene Oliver, April Smith, and Shane Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Ford Solomon, Thomas Solomon, Ira Buddy Ezell, Kent Frederick and Randy Cotton. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the caregivers at Kindred Hospice, Mobile Infirmary Cancer Care, friends and family for the professional care, prayers, friendships, and condolences. A special thank you to Sarah's caregivers: Scott Byrd, Linda Byrd, and Ronda Woodard.

A graveside service will be held on the grounds of Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama, 36619 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 with Rev. Charles D. Lewis officiating under the direction of Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606.
