Our precious mother, Edna Cooper Howell, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, June 30th surrounded by loved ones. We rejoice in the fact that she is totally healed in heaven as we grieve our great loss on this earth.
Edna was born to Bertie Bea and Daniel Ashford Cooper on August 21, 1937, in Coffee County, Alabama. On August 18, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thurman Hendrix Howell. Her greatest joy was having her large extended family around her.
Edna had a servants heart, always caring for others. It was important to her that everyone was well-fed and that all were included. She made sure to have extra Christmas gifts just in case someone brought a friend to holiday celebrations and to set aside some cash so she could be prepared to meet someone else's need.
Edna is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Thurman Howell as well as her five children, Paula (Wayne) Wolf, Cheryl Howell, Lisa (Michael) Baxter, Craig (Lisa) Howell, and Lori Vargas; and 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, along with many other people who were special to her including a niece, nephews, and sister.
If Edna could have had one wish come true, she would wish for all her family to ask Jesus Christ into their hearts for forgiveness of sin and to love one another as Christ loves each of us.
August 21, 1937 ~ June 30, 2022 (age 84)
A celebration of her life will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6th. Public visitation will be at 11:00 am; followed by the funeral service in the chapel at noon.
