Elizabeth D. Britton - a 78 year old native and resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Mrs.Britton earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Huntingdon College and graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Master of Education. She retired from the Mobile County School System after more than 25 years of service as a high school English teacher. Mrs.Britton enjoyed music, going to church, children's books, and her cats. She was involved for many years in music programs for children, youth, and adults at many churches. Mrs.Britton led music groups at Springhill Presbyterian Church , and she was a music director at Fairhope United Methodist Church and Forest Hill United Methodist Church where she touched many lives through youth and adult choirs. She was a wonderful teacher as she led a group called the "Wise Women" in Bible study. Mrs.Britton always used her faith to guide her through many challenges.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas Deese and Vivian Copeland Deese Kirk, and daughter, Jeanette Moore. Mrs.Britton is survived by her husband of 22 years, Richard Britton; sisters, Barbara, Judy, Lori, and Mary; brothers, Jimmy, Terry, Mike, Joe, and Tommy; a loving family of adult children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren from her marriage to Richard; and many other additional family members who will miss her.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will also be held at Springhill Presbyterian Church in Mobile, Alabama at a later date.
So sorry to hear of Elizabeth’s passing although I have no doubt she is with the Lord enjoying her reward. I used to do her hair and she was such a joy! Her passion for the Lord and music was contagious!
So sad. Elizabeth was a very good friend & meant so much to my sons in Youth Choir at Kingswood United Methodist Church. We had many good days of fun & fellowship. I will miss her.
