On Saturday , November 19, 2022, Beatrice Lucille (Smith) Thompson passed away peacefully at The Retreat in Mobile,Alabama. Born on January 1, 1938, she was 84 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years , Earl Thompson, two sons; Timothy and Steven, granddaughter; Kellie Ann, and a very special friend whom she affectionately referred to as ''my evelyn''. Miss Bea, as she was lovingly known to her friends was born in Mobile. Alabama and graduated from Murphy High School in 1956. In 1997, she earned a BA degree in Geriatric Studies from the University of South Alabama, graduating cum laude. Miss Bea worked at the University of South Alabama library from 1975 to 2012 Prior to that she was a switchboard operator the telephone company. She was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She also sang and toured with the Sweet Adeline's of Mobile. She was a fascinating woman who enjoyed many different hobbies. She loved music, books, flowers, working in her yard, collecting rocks, bird watching , eating anything chocolate and traveling. She traveled both foreign and domestic, visiting 18 different countries. She was a happy, witty, energetic, independent woman who loved life. She loved the color red and shopped for weeks for a red dress for her funeral because she said she was going out in style. Sadly, Her life was taken by the effects of Parkinson's Disease.
