Robert Walker Foster, born May 12, 1929, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty Bishop Foster; parents George Madden Foster and Anna Louise Walker Foster; siblings Evelyn Hudson, George Foster, Mel Goodhue, Jack Foster and Anna Belle Foster. He is survived by daughters Gayle (Tom) Pate, Judi (Jim) Gulledge and Robin (Ricky) English; grandchildren Bradley (Erin) English, Brittany (Chip) Baugh and Lyndsey (Kevin) Day; seven great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A native of Mobile, he graduated from Murphy High School where he lettered in baseball. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. He retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and Sears Roebuck. A lifelong Episcopalian, he was raised in Trinity Episcopal Church and was current member of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Through the years, he served both parishes in various ministries and leadership roles. He was a longtime member of a local mystic society for the past 69 years and was Knighted into the Royal Order in 2009. Affectionately called “Pop” by many, he was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The family will receive visitors at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619 on Tuesday, November 29 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at 11:00 am from Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 7125 Hitt Road, Mobile, AL 36695. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Serving as pall bearers are Tom Pate, Ricky English, Bradley English, Joel Gulledge, Chip Baugh and Kevin Day. Desired memorials may be made to Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
