Jackie Aaron Cooley Sr. went to his heavenly home on April 14, 2023 at the age of 89. Jack passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Cooley. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret S. Cooley, and his son, Darrin (Donna) Cooley; his seven grandchildren, Michael Cooley, Chelsey Santana, Corinne (Markell) Fuller, Brittni (Kyle) Henry, Taylor (Douglas) Wilson, Joshua (Delanie) Cooley, and Mackenzie Cooley; and nine great grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Vicksburg, MS. Jack never met a stranger, many of them becoming lifelong friends. His love for bluegrass music and playing the guitar led him and Margaret to many bluegrass festivals across the South. Thursdays were devoted to his weekly jam session with his picking buddies. Jack liked to stay busy so when he wasn't playing music you could catch him woodworking, making clocks, or on his tractor doing yardwork. He was a dedicated husband, father, and Gramps and will be sorely missed.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cooley, Joshua Cooley, Kyle Henry, Douglas Wilson, Blake VanCleave, and Michael Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his "picking buddies."
