Thomas Henderson "Pete" Potter - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the age of 72. Pete was born on October 2, 1950, to Pleasant Henderson "Buddy" Potter, III and Norva Williams Potter. He attended Murphy High School where he graduated in 1968. He later attended Faulkner State Community College where he played baseball and later attended Livingston University. Pete worked at Paper Products, Inc. in sales until the early 90's when he and his wife, Jo, opened Neighbor's Seafood and Chicken. At Neighbor's, Pete used his previous aptitude for sales and his superior personality trait of literally never meeting a stranger to build everlasting relationships with their patrons. Pete loved sports and more so the conversations that could be initiated by talking about football, basketball, or baseball games. He loved rooting for Auburn University and The University of Alabama sports and never stopped talking about having the opportunity to watch Auburn play in the BCS National Championship Game in Pasadena with his grandson, son-in-law, and nephews, as well as attending Auburn's appearance in the Final Four basketball tournament in Minneapolis. Pete was also a longtime member of Tinker Coon Hunting and Fishing Club in Sunflower, Alabama where he further enjoyed fellowship with friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Logan Potter; their children, Deana Potter Muscat (Jeffrey) of Mobile, and Logan Potter Mouron (Drew) of Birmingham; his sister, Norva Potter Moss of Mobile; his 6 grandchildren, Frances Muscat, Louise Muscat, William Muscat of Mobile, Potter Mouron, Thomas Mouron, and Harrison Mouron of Birmingham, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, May 17th. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am with service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

  3. A favorite childhood memory of mine is getting to go inside the kitchen of the original Neighbors location in Tillmans Corner with my dad during deliveries. Pete would always give me a chicken leg and a drink. I am truly so sorry for your loss Mrs.Jo. Pete was a great father, and businessman. You and your family will be in my prayers.

  5. I would like you, Mrs.Jo, to know that you and Mr. Pete were two very influential people in my younger years as I worked for y’all. My first job at Neighbor’s Seafood & chicken! I can remember the positive and helpful advice you both would give to not just me but each and every employee ! Mr. Pete was special to me and I pray for comfort for you and your family during this time.

  6. So sorry to hear of Pete’s passing! I went to school with Pete at Faulkner State. Although we never lived close we stayed in touch over the last 50 years. Sorry we would not attend the services. RIP my friend 🙏🙏. God bless!

  9. Pete was an amazing self made man that God blessed in so many ways. I was blessed to know him and even attended Murphy High school with him! Heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the families and so sorry I missed the services as I didn’t know. May God continue to bless you all!!
