M C Carr, 75, a native of Purvis, MS and 60 year resident of Mobile and Semmes, AL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving daughter Michelle on Sunday July 9th, 2023.
M C was preceded in death by his parents A H and Ida Mae Rutledge Carr, his beloved wife Patricia Edmonds Carr and many brothers, sisters and loved ones.
He is survived by his only child, daughter, Michelle Carr; sister Jeanette Crum, brothers Glen (Jean) Carr and Jim Carr; dear friend Pam Havens and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
M C was a well-respected member of the Semmes, AL community and helped in the efforts to incorporate it as a city. He volunteered at the voting polls every year that he was able and one of his great joys was riding his antique John Deere tractor in the annual Semmes Christmas parade. M C was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in any way he could be of service, especially the time he spent driving the church van to pick up kids for Sunday School. Through perseverance and hard work as a boat mechanic he overcame obstacles and succeeded in opening and operating Carr’s Marine and RV for 23 years and then continued “slinging wrenches” as he would say, at his shop at his home. Affectionately known as “Slick” to many over the years, he was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He lived a full and rich life and was well respected and loved by many.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Pam Havens, Carrie McLaney, Chris Hubbs, April, Delores, Tiffany, Linda, Cadie and Lindsey with SARPC, and the entire SAAD’s Hospice staff for supporting us on this caregiving journey.
