Alice Joyce Curry Lee, born April 18, 1928, died peacefully at home July 16, 2023 after a brief illness. Her parents were James D. Curry & Cecilia Johanna McDonnell Curry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Richard Joseph Curry, Loraine Cecilia Cowan, Beverly Louise King, her husband George Seymour Lee, Sr. and her sons George S. Lee, Jr, and David Arthur Lee.
She graduated from Murphy High School in 1945, and married the love of her life, Seymour Lee, in 1947. She was in the Diversified Occupations program at Murphy whereby you went to school half-day & worked the other half at a job procured by the school. She worked in the office of Harry’s Dept. store for 2 years. She attended Huffstatler Business school in the evening, and then went to work at Alcoa Steamship Co. for 5 years as a secretary in the Marine Dept. After her children were grown, she went back to work as a secretary for the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast.
She attended St. John’s Episcopal Church and was active in all aspects of church life. She taught Sunday school, worked with the Episcopal Church Women as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary throughout the years. She sang in the choir for 30 years, & loved working in the courtyard until her health intervened. She & her husband loved to travel after he retired from Scott Paper Company.
Survivors are her sons Andrew H. Lee, & Bruce N. Lee (Melinda). Six grandchildren, Allison Joyce Dolan (T.J.), George Robert Lee, (Michelle), Rebecca Lee, (all of Birmingham), Eric George Lee, Dylan Thomas Lee (both of Seattle), and Wyatt Mitchell Lee (Indianapolis), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Mobile with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be offered to St. John's Episcopal Church, Mobile, AL.
