Mrs. Alice Courtney, age 68, of Highland Home, Alabama passed away at her residence on Saturday, August 26, 2023 surrounded by love. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Ascension Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Alice was preceded in death by her father, Herman Anthony; and her son, Michael Shaun Payne. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Mark Courtney; mother, Shirley Robinson; daughter, Melissa Danielle (James) Gardner; grandchildren, Alexandria Dee Gardner, Brooke Ashleigh (Christian) Scott, and Sarah Mackenzie Gardner (Tim Wilson); sister, Betty Ann (Steve) Butt; niece, Alyssa Ann (Daniel) Cox; and other relatives and friends.
Alice worked as a bookkeeper for Branson Insulation and Victor Signs in Mobile, Alabama, later moving to Highland Home and retiring for 21 years. Alice never met a stranger and everyone immediately felt her kind spirit. She was a ray of sunshine to everyone. She will be missed by all who know her. Alice was a family woman who loved her home and family deeply.
