Jeanette McDaniel, age 90, of Foley, Alabama passed peacefully at her home, Monday morning, October 9, 2023. She was born February 27, 1933, in Hazard Kentucky and resided there until her family relocated to Theodore, Alabama, in 1946. She was a 1950 graduate of Theodore High School. She graduated Cum Laude receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Counseling from Drury College, Springfield, Missouri in 1982. She then received her Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Missouri State University in 1984. Jeanette lived an extraordinary life and helped others feel extraordinary in return.
She served as a Senior Faculty member for the William Glasser Institute training thousands around the world, from Australia to Croatia, the counseling concepts of Reality Therapy, Choice Theory and Lead Management. As Mid-America Regional Director and member of the Board of Directors for the William Glasser Institute she was sought after as keynote speaker at numerous conferences and conventions worldwide. She served as the President of the Missouri Mental Health Association, a lobbyist in Washington D.C. for Mental Health Awareness and the Mental Health Act, on the Traverse Academy Board of Education in Traverse City, Michigan, as well as a consultant and advisor for many schools and school systems throughout the world. Her work in education and counseling will continue to influence lives for generations to come. Throughout her career, she has received many recognitions and awards including the National Safety Council Award for her research and work with Driver Improvement Programs around the country. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl McDaniel, parents, Sherman and Mary McIntosh, brothers Chaplin Lt. Col. Gene Kelly McIntosh, Julius C. McIntosh, Eugene McIntosh, sisters Julia Ann Armstrong, Helen Wells, Mable Strong, Hazel Callahan, Justine Coffey, and Norma Jean Imhoff. She is survived by her son, Dr. William F. Lawrence (Jeanette), grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Johnston (Drew) and Adam Christopher Lawrence, great-granddaughter Emma Joy Johnston, brother P.E. McIntosh and stepdaughter Carla McDaniel, as well as loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held, Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed at 2:00 by a Celebration of Life Service with reception to follow.
