Nancy Myles

May 10, 1941 — December 18, 2023
Nancy Jane Myles, age 82, and resident of Grand Bay, Alabama, was born on May 10th, 1941, in Greenville, Alabama, and passed on December 18th, 2023. Nancy was a native of Mobile and lived most of her life in Grand Bay as a faithful daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. Caring for elderly family, raising her three sons and loving and caring for their families was her life's work. After coming to know Jesus, she was also devoted to her faith and cultivated a rich spirituality that was evident in the way she lived her life. Nancy was a longtime, active member of Covenant Church of Mobile, and she faithfully took part in prayer meetings alongside lifelong friends, and served those in her church and broader community. She delighted in children, especially her grandchildren who she took great joy in caring for. As evidenced by family and friends who witnessed her life, her sweet, humble yet independent and hardworking nature were examples for young and old. Not only was her loyalty and devotion to those she cared for evident in her marriage and family, but also in the friendships she cultivated and kept over many decades. She celebrated everyone she loved so well, cooking Sunday dinners and holiday meals, traveling and creating experiences with family and friends, and being generous always with her time, gifts and resources. Her legacy and example will live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved her and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Nancy is preceded in death by; her mother, Glenn Eleanor Patrick; her father, Lunsford Hearst Pope; her siblings, Wanda Riley McDade, Mollie Edith Pope Glowna, Ray Whitsett Pope, and Carol Ann Pope Deverell; her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Myles; and her grandson, John Harrison Myles. She is survived by; her loving husband of 65 years, Russel E. Myles; her sons, Phillip Russel Myles, Morgan Barry (Theresa) Myles, and Michael Gregory (Kristi) Myles; her daughter-in-law, Lori Lassiter Myles; her grandchildren, Kristin (John) Soutullo, Caitlin (Miles) Murphy, Patrick Myles, Connie (Ranse) Hare, Ryan Myles, Grayson Myles, and Ava Myles; her great-grandchildren, Emerson Murphy, Dylan Murphy, Ellie Murphy, John Michael Soutullo, and Holland Soutullo. Pallbearers; Patrick Myles, Ryan Myles, Grayson Myles, Ranse Hare, Miles Murphy, and John Soutullo. Nancy devoted herself to becoming the kind of woman described in Proverbs 31 and is a testament to what a life of continually pointing her heart toward Christ looks like: 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
