Alex Monroe Chapman, a native of Macon, GA, and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, surrounded by his family in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine Kloeckner Chapman, and his two daughters Erin (Anson) Edmonds of Mobile and Meghan (Corry) Glenn of Mobile. Alex is survived by five grandchildren Christopher Edmonds, Emily Edmonds, Mary Abigail Edmonds, Charlie Glenn, and Harper Glenn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Willis Chapman, and Clara Emily McLure, his sister Elaine Pagan, his brother Buddy Chapman, and his son Timothy Chapman.
He was born in Macon, GA on January 12, 1944. He served in the United States Coast Guard for twenty years stationed in Brownsville, TX, Hawaii, St. Louis, MO, Portsmouth, NH, Governors Island, NY, and Mobile, AL where he retired. Alex also retired in 2006 after a long career with the United States Corps of Engineers as a Computer Specialist. He was an active member in the Mobile Chapter of the Chief Petty Officers Association, Our Savior Catholic Parish, and the Knights of Columbus.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Savior Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
