Mr. John William Hancock

February 6, 1960 - March 10, 2024
John William Hancock, 64, passed away peacefully, March 10, 2024, in the comfort of his home. John was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, February 6, 1960 to Roy E. and Harriet Langley Hancock. He was a resident of Mobile, Alabama, for the majority of his life, growing up in West Mobile on his family’s horse farm. He attended Baker High School where he played football. All the girls thought he was the cutest one on the team. John was an electrician by trade working throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties. He was particularly proud of the fact he wired Mobile’s Saenger Theatre. He also worked at the University of South Alabama for 25 years. His role before retiring in 2022 was the Assistant Director of Maintenance. Those who worked with him remember him as friendly and personable, always smiling. An avid fan of The University of Alabama and the New Orleans Saints football teams, he was happiest on Saturday’s and Sunday’s watching games with his wife, Tina, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy E. and Harriett Langley Hancock. He is survived by his wife of 27 (1/2) years, Tina; daughters, Alison and Elizabeth; sister, Venus Robbins (David), and many wonderful friends who he appreciated so much.
