Barbara, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on April 19, 2024. She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi and was a resident of Laplace, Louisiana. Barbara completed her Specialist in Education and used that to work and become an administrator in St. Charles Parish. She developed solid physical education and sports programs at every school she was assigned to. Barbara established a Volleyball Refereeing Association that served the New Orleans and River Parishes and worked its way up to the state level. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a supervising teacher where she taught young teachers how to navigate the profession with a stellar work ethic and attitude. Barbara was selected to serve St. Charles Parish public schools as an Assistant Principal for many years demonstrating outstanding leadership skills. Barbara loved arts, crafts, crossword puzzles, talking on the phone, shopping (in person and online), eating at restaurants with her friends, visiting casinos, and watching Hallmark movies. She will be forever missed and remembered for her ability to be a genuine friend.
Barbara is survived by her brothers, Walter Harris (Faye) and Ralph Harris; her closest friends, Toni Robinet, Melinda Bernard, Angie Matherne, and Carol Hennis; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Ralph Harris and Lois Adalia Sharp Harris; and her beloved twin sister Charlotte A. Harris.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 1190 Hwy. 51 Ponchatoula, LA 70454, on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Magnolia Room until 5:30 p.m. A graveside service and burial will take place at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 6100 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.
