Don "Donnie" Carlos Salva, Sr., 82, passed away on May 23, 2024. Donnie was born on June 17, 1941 in Mobile, Alabama to Alex and Ada Salva. Donnie was a lifelong resident on Hollinger's Island who had a knack for repairing small engines on lawn equipment. Known as the "Lawnmower Man", Donnie had a reputation for being honest and trustworthy in his business dealings. Donnie used his skills as a mechanic, working for the City of Mobile Municipal garage until his retirement. He also loved shrimping and fishing since he came from a long line of fishermen.
Donnie is preceded in death by his son, Gregory A Salva; parents, Alex Salva and Ada Hobden Salva; five brothers, four sisters, and a grandson, John L Segler.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby L Salva; son, Don Carlos Salva, Jr. (Gail); grandchildren, Nicholas Salva, Cody Segler, Norris Segler (Beverly), Joshua Segler (Laura), Nicholas Segler (Laura), Kevan Salva (Theresa); 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Salva (Debbie); sister, Anita Cowart (Billy); nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Ms. Rosalen Pope who performed CPR on Donnie until help could arrive. Her effors are so appreciated by the family.

To honor the life of Donnie, a funeral service will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Father Dan Good presiding. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
